It seems like every day on the news there is another problem with facebook. I'm not on it and I'm glad I'm not. Bullying, scams and now a virus. Friends that I had that were on it, I kept getting mail from facebook through there address books. They had never asked me to join but their names kept coming up and it was crazy!

Yes it's true there something that shutdown facebook accounts but I think it's not that cellphone that are not connected because three of my friends lost their facebook accounts, one of them is connected to his cellphone number, so I think that's not the reason. Good Day

This is inaccurate information. You are NOT protected against Koobface by adding your mobile number to your Facebook account. What you MUST do is to install a good antivirus product on your PC. There are many free ones available so there is absolutely NO excuse for anyone not to have one. I recommend Avast!, Avira or AVG. All are free. Koobface is a very complicated and sophisticated trojan virus which will compromise many social networking systems, steal information from your PC and hijack your search engines, among other things. If you want to know exactly what it will do, look at this PDF file from TrendMicro (a reputable and trustworthy site, by the way): http://us.trendmicro.com/imperia/md/content/us/trendwatch/researchandanalysis/the_real_face_of_koobface_jul2009.pdf

Well, it's all depend on whom who spread it out. With a little modification, the owner also can be the men behind all of this. In my opinion, yes it can. By doing it, the owner have couple benefit. 1. Delete the fake account 2. Get real data to track the naughty guy. 3. Get deal with mobile number operator.Means, more money.

For sure everyone should have a antivirus on their computer and that their is absoluetly no excuse for anyone to have no antivirus software on their computer. I have avg and i think that is addiquite for the daily surfing that i do in the run of a day. I hope that the facebook administrators can get rid of the virus or put something on the site to prevent it from infecting users accounts. This will require them to tighten thier security and encription settings and passwords.Hopefully this goes away as their are millions of computers that get infected all over the world.

This is a horrible news. I just heard that there was virus attack on another famous social networking site Orkut.I personally saw that and I got the virum spam message from two of my firends who were attacked by the virus. I deleted the message as soon as possible and logged out from the account. I logged into my facebook account this morning and nothing happened. I am not opening it anymore today.

You MUST install an antivirus program if you value yourself and your computer safety! There are plenty of good free AV programs around so there is absolutely NO excuse for not installing one. I recommend any one of the following: Avast!, Avira or AVG. All are free and all are capable of guarding against Koobface and other nasties.

Avira, AVG, Avast only good for PC.But seem like it's hard to used on the cellphones. If you use a smartphones, specially for Symbian.I suggest you to use Kaspersky, the one that I used for my cellphones. I ever read on their site that Kaspersky launch a virus that can't be handle by other anti-virus.

That's strange... I haven't connected my mobile no to FB, do u think it will happen to me too? As for me I don't believe this but thanks for the advice anyway. The question is......, why will COOBFACE attack only those Accounts that are not connected to their mobile no? If that's the truth then Couldn't it be the work of the FB Admin who wants your mobile no for their.... God knows what purpose.

Soon or later, if this virus spread by the owner. How much account you have in there?? Imagine you have 5 accounts in there and you hear this issue?? Which one you will connected with your mobile number?? The primary of course and let others get shut down. How much FB will earn from mobile operator if they make a deal with it. A mobile number usually use a real identity. It's good for FB to know the real identity. So that they can track hacker or if they cooperated with some goverment to track terorism, criminal, etc.

It is really that there are a lot trouble with facebook. Because of million members in that popular social networking site. It cannot avoid bad people to join that want to interrupt the operation of facebook... Some are want to terrorize people around facebook. Because we all know that there are many people using facebook, to cried grievances to their abusive government... Have a nice day!
