Give me 3 good reasons why men are better drivers.

I often hear people always gesticulating at a slow car and uttering "lady drivers blah blah blah". Or when cars cut into another car's lane at the last minute. Is that a social bias or conspiracy against lady drivers or they really lack skills in driving. I believe all drivers go through driving tests before they go onto the road and will adhere to an international set of codes. Or is it just a poor sense of direction .... Doesn't one remember the messy pile-ups and accidents often cause by guy drivers too. Or is it because most if not all Formula 1 drivers are guys. Your take on this please.

Being a good driver is a quality, which is not gender specific. However, men think with head, and women think with their heart. Women mostly go by their intuition, whereas men don't. Men know how to act in a situation, whereas women don't.

achilles then how come more women react immediately and rightly when their child really needs emergency treatment, I worked for years as a nurses aide and saw moms bring in children who are in need of immediate attention and they remain calm, no hand wringing no hyseterics like the dads often had. I think women tend to be calmer in an emergency than most men who do not have the foggiest idea of what to do about a child in an emergency situation. If women did not know how to react in a situation how come they are the ones bearing children and bringing children to the ER when needed not the men who get all g ruff and yell and fume an have no idea how to help,.

Hi achilles and Hatley for your replies. Hi achilles, I beg to differ with you on your reply. There are women who are level-headed and can make decisions in a crisis as in men who make a mess of a good situation. It is therefore incorrect to say that women cannot react wisely in the event of crisis". I have heard of men fainting at the sight of blood! The case you have cited may be an exception rather than the rule. Or rather the woman had tripped whilst trying to rescue the child and thus 'pushed' the child out. Put a man in a kitchen and he may be similarly challenged. Granted that, I feel that women are not inferior drivers (especially in the developed countries) to men but equally good except that their build may not help in terms of changing car wheels and the like.

First, men are less emotional. You know if you drive when you are emotional, it is easy to lead to an accident. Second, men can focus to do one thing very well. Women can handle different things at the same time, but the quality is not as good as men. Third, men can stay calm even if there is an accident. Whereas women will be at a loss what to do. I love China

hi youless, i think women are just as good as men when it comes to driving. Some women are emotional but not all. Some men are emotional but not all too. In fact, men are the more aggressive drivers and do challenge other road users to a race on the road and highway. Thanks for your input.

1. It's difficult for most women to park. Most of them always have problem especially bringing the car backward. 2. Men have more ability to concentrate and focus to the road compared to most women. 3. Most women are scared driving with high speed, while most men can do that with ease.

ummm, for (1) i think women do have some difficulty with parallel parking. But this doesn't exclude the men - maybe in terms of proportion. For (2), i think this is absolutely not true. Guess who often get drunk at the wheels.... haha, the guys. For (3), perhaps so but does driving at high speed makes the men better drivers. In fact, they are more prone to accidents as they cut into lanes and challenge other car drivers to a race on the road!!

I dont think so that men are only the ones who can drive better even women also drives good and sometimes more better than men.I Believe both men and women have the zeal to learn and grasp things fast so none of them can be compared infact girls have better concentration levels and sincerity than men.Girls are more devoted and fast than men but male chauvinistic society doesnt allow women to take credits of their smartness and activness..But still comparison is not good..Men and womne both are equally good in all the fields

hi ankster, you are right, women are good drivers too. Driving fast and speedily is not equal to being a good driver. Perhaps it is just that guys have a headstart in the driving industry and therefore are deemed to be "better" drivers.

1. Its not true. 2. Its not true. 3. Its not true. I don't find any reason so i think to post above three lines.. he he. Well i think as a boy i am good driver.. but thats not mean that a girl can't do the same.. I am telling this thing because my sister do drive our car.. But she is very good in all parts of driving.

This topic is quite debatable. But then I just give you 3 reasons why men are better drivers. First, many men believe that they are better drivers than women, therefore drive less safe than women. That women tent to be very distracted by many things when driving.Secondly, male drivers are more knowledgeable most of the time about the vehicle. Thirdly, men are more aggressively drivers.

Men can be quite good drivers but so can women. It is just that perhaps there is a greater population of male drivers therefore the better drivers are more apparent. This is not to say that women are bad drivers coz there are good ones too but maybe the population is smaller.

Of course there are good and bad male and female drivers. Men tend to take risks more, women pay less attention. Some women, cannot reverse, drive in the fast lane slowly for 100 miles because at some distant point they intend to turn right. all the best urban

well most women drivers are the ones that I see not doing a good job on the road. maybe not 3 reasons but I have met women drivers who almost hit the back of our car : * they probably are not speeding, but there is no reason to toot at us when it is not our turn to turn LOL it's red light anyway * they also drive faster than my husband, not that road signs don't allow it, but they also don't maintain a good distance between their car and ours. while my husband always does ( well at least when I am with him LOL ) so every time the car in front of us suddenly stop, we are OK, but hoping the car behind us don't hit us because they are too close. I will ask husband about what he calls good distance. now it's possible my husband is a better driver than these women because he drives over 30 yrs. I am sure if a woman drives that long she will be as good. but it is strange why I don't see men drivers do those I mentioned. I did see the young ones speed though, at the time we were going on vacation LOL I guess they want to get the best spot before everyone else gets there. well a test is a test, what they do after they pass, who knows :) poor sense of direction, can't be just women LOL

I am thinking we have a mix of both female and male bad drivers, as each time I get in the car with my boyfriend, as this is no joke, I feel I need a valium. He never ceases to amaze me with his rushing, no matter how much extra time we have he rush and scares the living daylights out of me whereas I get sick to my stomach many times.

hi hwg - i really know what you mean. I know of a guy who drives jerkily and brakes heavily such that at the end of the journey, I am all ready to throw up.

Hi carp, Firstly, please define "better", is it based on skill? no. of red lights they beat? no. of accidents they avoid/caused? I think maybe men have a better judgement of speed and distance, so when they are driving, they know when to cut in a line, when to turn etc. However, that doesn't necessarily make them better drivers. I think women drivers tend to be more careful and likely to give way, so that's quite useful on the roads too. Just my 2 cents' worth.

I can't think of any valid reasons. Driving is a skill that can be mastered by either gender with practice. My mother is a much better driver than my father. But my grandfather is probably one of the best drivers I have been in a car with.
