Helping others in need...what would you do?

I work in a gas station in the middle of nowhere. We get a lot of people from out of town. A gentleman from out of town picked up a man walking from about 10 miles away and brought him to my station. The man had nowhere to get a tire fixed that day. So I borrowed him my donut tire, it just happened to be the same. The nice out of town gentleman brought him back to his car and helped him put the spare on. The stranded man then came back and thanked me and got my number and said would bring the tire back the same day or next day. Well that was 2 days ago. Still nothing. My husband yelled at me and told me I was dumb for trusting him. I don't want to admit he was right. I would want someone to help me out if I was in need.

It is always a good deed to help people in need. Of course, one may not be able to offer the full help needed, but as best one can certainly is worthy. There may be people who are not honest, but what one do with all sincerety is of value. I like helping and making donations to charity organizations which are helping people in need around the world.

You did the right thing. You helped someone out and you know what? I believe that same will happen to you. It might not be now but I really believe that good things happen to people who do good. Anyway, it was just 2 days right? You never know, the guy might come later to return the tire. Just wait. And you're a great person because you help people! =)

You did the right thing by helping this guy. Unfortunately, there is a risk whenver we trust other people. Even good people will occasionaly let people down. Imagine that, we do an act of love and get hurt in return. They do say life is not fair. On the other hand, God does not miss anything. Hope your donut tire makes it back to you, and if not, that your husband will still commend you for doing the right and kind thing. djbtol

I would have done the same thing. And if I were still with someone I'm sure I'd have gotten yelled at too... It's sad that a lot of people promise things and don't do them, but that is the price of being a good samaritan I suppose.
