As a deadly typhoon ripped through Manila, Philippines named "ondoy" last year, a young father sat cradling his infant child, born just five weeks before. When the fierce, howling winds finally subsided and calm had returned, the man's house was gone - and so was his baby, but later the father found his child in a field near his house alive and well and so was the rest of his family. The man I mentioned is my cousin. When asked by others if he was angry that he had lost everything he owned, he replied, "No, I just thank God i have my baby and my family. some people don't have that. Nothing else is important." Often it takes times of tragedy to remind us what really matters in life. Like in my case I tend to grow overly concerned about countless trappings of modern life but when life is reduced to the essentials as to what happened to "ondoy" tragedy, I recall again that life itself is enough reason to praise God. How about you what really matters? or Have you spent time today praising God for your life and for the people He has given you to share it with?

Your cousin's story almost brought tears to my eyes! I agree with him, The mere fact that you and your family survived is enough. You wouldn't care for physical belongings. You can rebuild it. It will be hard at first, but not as hard as losing someone dear to you. For me, my family is what matters most. As long as we're all okay, loving and supporting each other, I'm happy!

Hello, yeah you are right we always treasure our family above all things after all our families hold the keys to understanding and appreciating ourselves and who can relate better to us and can love us more selflessly...
