I am NOT a domestic goddess

But I guess I'm bored with no roommate to talk to...
why?
Well, because I did some cleaning.
No, not in my front room, but in my bedroom!
I got 4 shelves dusted. I took all my stuffed animals and ran them in the dryer on "air" just to get the dust off them.
I washed off the things I could stick under the water.
I actually got some of the dirt on 2 other shelves too, because when I moved the stuffed animals off them, I could easily grab some huge dust bunnies...
I flunked "Stepford wife" and I'm not, as Roseanne said once, "A Domestic Goddess" but I did some cleaning and feel like... well, I didn't walk tonight, but I did do a few things around the house, including starting the dishwasher (I've been loading the dirty dishes every night, but its finally full enough to run) and I got these shelves better organized and them and the things on them cleaned.
I didn't go for the walk because I watched a really cool show on TV about the Sahara...
See, not only do I love science fiction and fantasy, I also love science, history and geology and this show was all three of those!
So, what have you done around the house?
Do you like geology?

I'm really not into geology. IT takes me forever to do what i need to do in this house. Today i vacuumed, stripped my bed & just am constantly putzing around doing something. My kids tell me i'm picky about my house & i guess they are right. lol.I just wish i could get it done like i use to but i can't.

I know what you mean. Today was trash day - well, tomorrow the garbage trucks come, that means it has to be out tonight (they get here before 7 most mornings)
And, the roommate wasn't here to help, she's on a cruise, so it was up to me. I got it done, and pretty quickly, but used probably twice the garbage bags because I can't lift the weight we can do together by myself.
But its done, and I'm thinking of rewarding myself with a trip to a restaurant tonight...

Don't get me started sweetie.
I don't mind cleaning, but for me that is really the biggest punishment ever.
One thing i cannot stand is dust.
But who else will do the freaking cleaning?
Seems we row in the same boat here.
I am anything but a domestic goddess.
Geology is interesting, sometimes.
I'm not a big fan of the telly though.
TATA.

How I wish I could afford to pay someone to clean for me! I used to enjoy cleaning and fussing around the house but nowadays there are so many more important things I would rather do! I made a list of the chores that need doing and work myself through the list. Doing one thing every day is better than nothing the way I see it! I don’t really want to be a domestic goddess!

Oh, trust me, I'm no domestic goddess either to the disappointment to my beloved husband of 23 years. But he's learned to live with it.
I do keep the areas of the house that people see, if they come visit, nice and suitable for guests. But the other rooms, I really don't worry about.
I clean them when I "feel like it" which isn't very often!

You're quite lucky there, it is so hard to try to please everyone who lives with you !

I was given a sideboard that someone was getting rid of (it was "too good to throw out") I've been wanting something similar for a while so I took it. You would swear it was made for the spot where I put it and I filled it easily but then had to re-organise 4 other cupboards and when I started I found mouse poo which meant taking everything out, washing it, cleaning the cupboard and so on. It took me two bloody days!!! Now I have to find room for the two rather nice arm chairs that came with it that are in rather good nick (well made to start with) but unfortunately they don't go with my other furniture and colour scheme. I have one in this room, the living room next to the fire place and Roxy the pup and Banjo have claimed it.
I get interested in some docos but not geology. Give me mindless fictional programs that I only need to half watch as I type away and I will be suitably entertained.

My husband didn't feel like walking yesterday after changing the screens to windows on the Eastern side of the house yesterday. He had taken the air conditioner out of our bedroom window, so he decided to do that end. Then it started to rain. I was hoping it would hold off so he could get the Western side done.
I cleaned the stove off and got everything ready for my husband to make his pie. I asked him what all the stuff was that he wanted. He said a large bowl, well I knew he would need more than that like measuring cups, pan to bake the pie in, etc. So I put everything I could on the stove. Didn't have a potato masher for the pumpkin so that of course was a catastrophe. He will bake or cook anything, but he can't find anything so that's a problem.
Been taking stuff from my bedroom and putting it into boxes for the future sale we 're going to have if it ever stops raining. This weekend, we're going to my husband's nephew's wedding.
Going to sweep the floor as soon as I get done Mylot.
So not much around the house. Just trying to keep ahead of food spoilage is quite a chore this time of year. Take care

hi ElicBxn I am spoiled here as my bed is made for me, the floor is vacuumed for me, the bathroom and tub made sparkling and I just sit here and mylot.so it is so different, it took me awhile to get used to being waited on like a queen here.oh and they wash my clothes for me too.
I love geology and love to rock hound. I have a small basket of geodes I bought at the county fair one year. they are really pretty with shiny clear crystals in the center. I have obsidin, rose quartz, baby tears,
turquiose and white quartz too.also some agates I found in Arizona.

Yes, I like geology. This particular day, I didn't do anything around the house except cook dinner and load the dishwasher. It isn't full enough to run, yet. I spent most of the day in the sewing room working on another quilt. Oh, I did finish the laundry that my husband started. He has a habit of starting the washer and taking a nap or getting on the phone for a long winded conversation with someone in his hometown. I'm glad we have unlimited long distance coverage.

I too am not a domestic goddess, but when I get really pissed off I tend to clean. That is how my husband knows I am really mad. I go on a cleaning spree. I have never gone on a cleaning spree just to get the house organized etc. I only do it when I am mad. I do it in the most violent way too. I slam doors, I stuff clothes into the hamper, I throw them into the dryer from the wash, I stomp around. Normally I go from task to task and not one task gets totally finished before I calm down. Half the dishes will be put away, some of the laundry folded and put in its place.

I hear ya about not getting every thing done.
I do get the trash out, but I did 5 shelves in the bedroom, but tonight I did most of one of the plate rails in my kitchen
I have a ceiling fan and it blows the cat hair around and some of the stuff on the rail was just coated with dust and fur.
I should've gotten the stool and done it completely, but I didn't, I did still do quite a lot tho...
I haven't done the other one yet tho...

I love Geology. It's the geek in me.
And I'm not a "Domestic Goddess" either, at least not until I moved out from my parent's house and started to live on my own.
At first I thought, oh boo, I'm not going to pop a vein just because I don't clean the bathroom or take out the trash regularly. I mean, who really cares whether my bed is unmade or if my clothes are strewn all over my place?! It's just me in there.
But seriously, the mess just made my brain itch. And I was running out of excuses from inviting my friends over my place. So I was off towards Domestic Divahood.
Also, I kind of realized that doing these things regularly instead of letting it pile up just saves my sanity.
