Abusive Foreign Employers

I had watched and read several news about domestic helpers being abused and I just couldn't understand why some people are capable of doing that, to the point that they became oblivious to the feelings of those people working hard for them. Just recently, maybe about a month ago, I saw in the news an abused maid. What disturbed me all the more was the "unique" way she was abused. Imagine, she had nails inside her body, can you believe that?Nails inside one's body! The news explained that every time she made a big mistake, a nail is driven into her skin! I was really shocked while watching the news. A number of x-rays revealed that she has indeed nails inside her body. She was now repatriated, but what's next? Usually, such case is not resolved because a case cannot be filed to the employer, just like a lot of cases here in the Philippines so it is a sad reality. I hope each government agencies all over the world will do something to stop any kind of abuse, especially in countries where abuse has high rates.
