Hardware and Software is two important part of a computer.The mechanical part of a computer is called hardware and software is set of program that operate the computer and help the user do productive work.The working of hardware require set of software.
Computer software classified in to two system software and application software.A system software is a a set of program that manage the resources of a computer and application software set of program using special application.The working of application software your system must need a system software that mean operating system.
Language Processors(Assembler,Interpreter and Compiler),Loaders and Linkers and Operating System (Windows,Linux,Unix etc) are the main categories of System software.Application Software include different categories,
Text Editing Software : Ms Office(word),Open Office,Page Maker etc
Media Players : Windows Media Payers,VLC Player,Nero Player etc
Graphics Editing Software : Photoshop,illustrator and coral draw etc
Internet Software : Mozilla Firefox,Google Chrome,DAP,Google Talk,Yahoo Messenger
Anti-Virus Software : Norton,Avira,Cloud etc

Well you have many things about hardware and software. I think you know well about software and hardware. And I think you are also related to computer field. Because I am also related to IT sector. And this time I have finished my master's degree in computer application. Windows Xp is my favorite operating systems and VLC media player is my favorite player for watching videos because it may plays every types of files and windows media player I used for listening audio songs. Avast is a god antivirus which I used and I used its professional version and it is valid till August 2012.

My Favorite Media player is VLC media player, it has got the simplest interface and it plays most of the media formats.
My Favorite OS is Windows 7, it is the latest Windows OS with the best GUI and advanced features.
My Favorite browser is Internet explorer, because it is compatible with all the websites.
My Favorite Anti Virus is McAfee, that is because of its performance and the interface.

Operating System : Windows XP
- Much better for heavy programs and accesible to tweaking for better performance compared to Vista and 7, which are most likely just for home use. Some programs are only compatible with it as well, including games.
Browser : Safari for Windows
- Fast loads, clean and sleek and I like it that way since I'm not into add ons and stuff anyway. Not to mention its colour suits my liking.
Media Player : VideoLan VLC
- Just better than WMP. Pretty small I like it that way. And it doesn't look so complicated, not to mention lotsa options available.
Anti Virus : Eset Smart Security paired with MalwareBytes
- They do their job that well.
