FaveCrafts.com. I stumbled onto this site while looking for free knit/crochet patterns and it is totally awesome! Well, to an avid crafter, it's awesome. They have craft ideas for all craft mediums. Knitting, crocheting, beading, clay, sewing, cardmaking, you name it, they have it. I wanted to share this with all the crafters here and see if any of you have your own favorite online craft site. Do you? Are you already a member of FaveCrafts?

Hi jill. I'm so glad you're as excited about this site as I was (and still am). Have you made the wreath yet? I'd love to see it if you have.

Yep, that's my favorite one, too! I like that they have all sorts of crafts and some that can be done quickly, but others that are long term projects. I mostly knit and have found a lot of patterns I want to try there. I am a member there and always wind up going to see whenever they send a newsletter.

I'm spending way too much time there, looking at everything. Unfortunately, I like to do almost everything they have there. I don't have nearly the time it would take me to do everything I found on this site that I like. I'm forcing myself to just pick things that I want to make as Christmas gifts and work on them before trying anything else. I'm guilty of having too many unfinished craft projects. I do get around to finishing them, eventually, but I guess my problem is that I get too excited when I see new patterns and want to start them right away. At least I'll never be bored.

I totally understand that! I always have a list a mile long of things I want to make. There just isn't enough time in a year to do all of them! And then I find something else...

I joined this site earlier today. Don't have much time to check it out today but it looks great. My crafts are done with plastic canvas however I do knit. Only basic knitting projects but love it. Thanks for posting the information.

Know what you mean. Every one of those crafts are interesting but I, too, would never make most of them. Good site. Thanks for sharing.

Hi carolbee. I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment. I haven't been getting all of my notifications lately and I guess this was one I missed. Anyway, I hope you've had a chance to take a look around this site by now. Some of the crafts are a bit cheesy but there are still way too many that I like. I want to make them all but, of course, there's no way I'd ever have the time for all of them. I'm trying to just concentrate on Christmas gifts for now. Happy crafting!

Good for you!!! Maggiepie quit a few months before I met her, she discovered that if you can wait out the feeling, it goes away in like 3 minutes. I'm afraid that crafting is a lot harder habit to kick!

I really want to learn to knit and crochet, but I have no one to teach me. I've tried learning by myself (I even have "knitting for dummies"!) but when I mess up I have no one to show me how to fix it! My mother knits, but she lives far away. I think I might take some knitting stuff home over Christmas and see if she can get me started on a project. I don't suppose you know of a site with a pattern for a vintage cloche style hat?

I did find this one: http://www.popknits.com/index.php/patterns/page/greta/ It's a free crochet pattern for a clothe hat. It came from this knitting/crocheting site: http://www.craftfreely.com/free-knitting-patterns/preview-pattern.cfm?id=3492 where they have tons of free hat patterns. Other than that, I'd suggest you search for free vintage cloche hat patterns. I really think you should take some knitting stuff with you when you go home for Christmas and let your mother teach you. It's not just fun, it's very relaxing, as well. I love knitting or crocheting when I'm just sitting and watching TV. I've never been one to just stare at the TV. I like to keep my hands busy. Good luck on learning to knit! I'm sure you'll have no problem learning because it really is quite easy once you learn the basics. I'm left-handed and was taught by a right-handed person so I knit in a combination of both. I hold the loose yarn in my right hand when I should be holding it in my left but this is more comfortable for me so I'm fine with it. You'll learn little tricks to make it comfortable for you, too.

I think I always overdo it on the tension. Probably because I'm so self-conscious I'm not doing it right. If I can get the hang of it that will probably change though. Thank you so much for the pattern. It would be really cute if I could make one and add a little flower to the side. It's really kind of you to post that for me.

I can understand and sympathize with you, cher. I'm usually too busy to do all the crafting I'd like to do but, recently, because of needing this last surgery of mine and then afterwards when I was recovering, I had a lot of time on my hands. That's actually when I found this site. Now that I'm able to do more again, I'm trying to find a good balance between doing things I know I should and working on some of these crafts for Christmas. So far, the crafting is winning.

I hope you've had a chance to look at it by now. My problem is that I have to stop looking at it, for awhile, anyway. I have way too many ideas in my head and not enough time to do them all as soon as I'd like. I am getting a lot of Christmas gifts made from this site, though. I've always liked to make everyone at least one gift I made myself. I have the feeling that you are very much the same way.

I'm not really good at crafts. I remember when i was in highschool and we had a project, I didn't pass it coz I really can't do it, I can't even make the first step. Good thing our teacher didn't require it in the end because alot of my classmates also haven't passed it and the ones who passed it are just given incentives on their grades. So praises to those who are good at it.

Everyone has something they're good at. Some are good at crafting while others are good at writing, music, parenting, making new friends, etc. My oldest son is not good at crafting, either, but he has some great qualities in other areas.

Thanks for sharing this site. I hadn't discovered it and it is wonderful. I don't get to craft as much as I used to, but when the cold weather sets in I get the old itch to stay indoors and make something. Now that my kids are getting older, maybe I can find something on here for all of us to do!

Hi pschenck. I'm glad you found this info useful. Every time I go into this site, I have to pull myself out of it or I'll be in there for hours because it seems there's always something else I haven't seen yet. I adore this site! I have so many projects lined up (in my mind) that I'll never get even half of them done in my lifetime. LOL Have fun with your kids! Oh, and welcome to myLot!

I'm glad you like the website. I've thought about opening a shop on Etsy, too. I have to get around to taking photos of all my crafts first, though. LOL Sure, you can add me as a friend. That would be really nice having someone to talk about crafting with. Oh, also, welcome to myLot!

Thanks for sharing this site with us. I am not a crafter but I am looking for ideas that my daughter can do for art in our home school class and that she can give as gifts as money is really tight this year. Any ideas are helpful. I will have to check into this site.

I know exactly what you mean! I used to do so much when I was younger. Now, the days zoom on by. By the time I really get rolling during the day, it's almost bedtime. I think we should be born old and get younger as we gain knowledge and experience. Then we'd have the energy to put that knowledge and experience to good use. I've used About.com quite a few times, using their how-to videos when I want to learn something new. I'm getting into mold-making and About.com has taught me everything I need to know about it. When I first found FaveCrafts, I think I was looking around that site for hours before I realized how much time had gone by. LOL Anyway, happy crafting!
