hi,just wondering how you deal with telemarketers?i do telemarketing for a charity but,ppl are very nice usually because we are simply looking for household items and clothes for the store that they dont want anymore and the driver picks it up for them and ,most ppl have stuff to get rid of anyways so you hang up on telemarketers or how do deal with it?

Well, I try to be patient with them as much as I can. I know they are trying to do their job. If I were in that place, I would be doing the same. So, I try to give the time and listen to what they wish to say. At the end, if interesting, I would say "Thanks for the information". If not interesting, I would say "No, thank you. I am not interested".

I signed up for the do not call list so I don't get telemarketers calling anymore. I do however have a story about what a close friend of mine told me he has done. He keeps a small air horn from his boat near the phone and when he gets an unwanted telemarketer calling, he just shoots a quick blast in to the phone. Not really the most friendly way to handle it but I would imagine it gets the job done.

I usually hang up on telemarketers I think because I learned it from my mom. Telemarketers don't really call that often though mostly who we hang up on are the bill collectors who hassel you everyday and only give their name not who their calling from and even call on sundays those people bug me not so much the telemarketers.
