I am one of those people that starts my Christmas shopping very early in the year. If I find a deal on something, then I am going to buy it right then and there. I've already done a lot of my shopping for this year. I've bought a digital camera for each of my children, a smart cycle and Geo Trax set for my son and some clothes for both of the kids. I'm looking for a Barbie house and some other things for my daughter. What about you, what have you bought so far, if anything? If you haven't started shopping yet, when do you think that you will start?

I have bought some video games for the boys and a huge makeup case for my daughter. That is about it. My kids seem to change there mind from day to day and it becomes hard to buy early. I have bought some clothes for all of them as well. I know all of my kids would like a digital camera...so thanks for the idea. What kind did you get yours?

This would be perfect for my two younger kids..they are 12 and 14. They just like to have a camera to post stuff on the computer...they don't need anything fancy and both are a bit careless when it comes to keeping up with things. My older son (21) is really into photography, so I will have to spend LOTS of money on his. Thanks for sharing the amazon link..I will definitely be ordering 2 of those for the young ones.

You are more than welcome, I was so happy when I came across them. Yeah, for someone that is really into photography, I would suggest a DSLR camera, I got one three years ago and I love that thing.

Well, my kids are just eight and four years old, so I decided to just get them something basic, but a little bit higher quality than the kid tough ones. I got them this one in two different colors: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JIN1G6/ref=oss_product They were a little bit cheaper when I bought them though. I just figured they might get more enjoyment out of something a little higher end than a true kid's camera.

I don't do any Christmas shopping anymore. Our kids are grown so what I do is get them gift cards and let them buy whatever they like or need. I do the same with the grandkids but then also get them toys. It works out very well for me. Am not a shopper so this is easy and our kids like the idea. They know what their kids need and want and I don't always know since 4 of the kids live in other states. At first I thought they might not like the idea but I was wrong.

When my dad's mother was alive, she would give her kids money to buy gifts for their children because she'd suffered from a stroke and it wasn't easy for her to get out and shop and she also had 16 grandchildren.

I have a back problem although I can still get around fine. It's just easier for me to do the holidays this way since we also have a few birthdays in December. Our kids like money and gift cards so it works well. Forgot to mention I am lazy!

We have December birthdays to deal with as well. My daughter's birthday is on the 4th of December and my oldest niece's is on the 15th of December.

Ah yes, you're one of "those" people. I remember you talking about it last year. My best friend is the exact same way. It drives me crazy because she'll also tell me that I only have so many day left until Christmas even if it's 110 days or so. Anyway, I don't have any of my Christmas shopping done yet. I can't even think about it until after Halloween. However, my kids have started their list for Santa Claus so at least that's a start.

I feel that, it is actually why I started doing my shopping so early, it is one less thing that I have to worry about.

I'm kind of like you, I start doing a little shopping here and there.. Starting in August usually. lol. I usually get the bulk of my presents probably in November, once I figure out what everyone wants - but before that I'll buy things I know people will like or use, and especially if I find a good deal on them. Right now, I have 5 different nice gift sets for 5 people so far - that's just a small present (although I spent like $80 on them in total! Victoria's Secret is expensive lol), but I still have to get them all the 'main gift', which usually consists of gift cards or things they specifically ask for - I like getting them things they actually want or need and will actually use. I'm lucky in the sense that I have only 2 friends that I exchange with, and about 5 family members that I get things for. That's about it as far as my presents go. But I like spreading out the gifts between pay checks - it makes it feel a lot less painful than spending it all at once! lol

That is the main reason that I spread out my gift buying as well. I absolutely can't stand it when I try to buy everything at once. It is too much for me to try to do everything as Christmas comes close.

We have bought books for our nieces and nephews from my wifes home business, Usborne Books. I think that is about all. Cheers, I am usually finishing my "Christmas" Shopping in January or February a few years after the fact...

LOL at finishing a few years later. I just came across some gifts from last Christmas that I had misplaced the other day. I'm going to go over there and deliver them this evening I think.

Mood rings for my nieces, a pocket watch for my aunt. I have a very long list, and that's how far I've gone. I'm waiting for the bazaars to happen, because there are a lot of good finds in them.

That is a good point. I really love to find gifts to give to people that are things that are handmaid. However, it is difficult for me to find handmade gifts because there aren't many people in my family that would appreciate something that was handmade.

I haven't bought anything yet. I have a lot of people on my list this year, so it's going to be crazy. I've already started making puppets for some of the kids on my list, and they're coming out very cute, so I'm pleased with this. I'll start the shopping part once I see how well my knitting and sewing is going: I'm knitting wristwarmers and hats for people.

I simply have to say that I am very jealous of your getting to go to Florida for the holidays. I would love to be able to take a Christmas trip some year instead of buying gifts for everyone, that would really be a dream come true for me.

We don't celebrate Christmas..but we have Diwali before Christmas and it is on 5th of November this year...its very wise to do shopping very early as market get flooded with people and you can hardly make your choice...but for me its mostly at the last moment...as Diwali includes many many things besides shopping..we do cleaning of our houses...mostly painted every year at this time only...and so though we know that it will to be good to be late still we don't find time to go to the market earlier...Happy Christmas in advance !!!

I actually have a lot hidden away for my son... I am a bargain shopper so if I see something that's a really good deal, I buy it and deal with it later. Last spring, I found a sweatsuit on the clearance rack at JC Penney, it was $4! It was a size 5. Naturally, my now 5 YO was still in 3/4T, but I got it anyway and put it in his closet. It fits perfectly now! I also just purchased 4 short/shirt outfits on line via Walmart, for $28! I'll get them and stick them in his summer draw for next year! I know this wouldn't normally be a bargain as they normally sell Geranimals at $4 each, but my son is too big now and the 'big boy' sizes/brands are more money, so to me, this year, that's a bargain! I do this all year; so I had quite a stash started for his birthday, but DH decided to buy a water slide and we decided to put some stuff (previously intended for his birthday) away for Christmas. As far as the rest of the family, I've got money stashed, but I haven't purchased anything so far. I'll usually just haunt places like the Christmas Tree Shop, Big Lots, Ocean State, and Walmart; I'll buy good deals, with a person/family group in mind, then go from there...

I've done the same kind of things when buying clothes for my children. Now they are growing quicker so it is a little bit more difficult to get it done. However, I still do buy some things in advance.

I don't know when I will start but I have not bought anything as of yet but I have been looking because I am so far behind with bills it is unreal, but I have been looking at a few things for family to see what I can fit in my budget maybe I will start in a couple of week or 3 weeks. Have a nice day!

Unfortunately, I am one of those 'crammers' that does their Christmas shopping too late. So, needless to say, I haven't bought anything yet. I still have to get over the hump of Halloween and Thanksgiving before I could start worrying about Christmas. But this year, I will promise to start a little bit earlier. Maybe in the first week of December.

In my case it's a bit tricky. For some reason... a lot of the people I love have birthdays on October... so I'm usually broke before the month ends. :p But heck, seeing the smile on their faces as they open their gifts is just priceless. :) ...we have scheduled our Christmas shopping next week though so wish me and my wallet good luck. ;p

Oh, this time of the year is tricky for me as well. My son's birthday was on the 13th of October, my daughter's is on the 4th of December and then my niece's is on the 15th of December. Then, of course there is Christmas. I really think that is a big part of the reason that I do my shopping all year long.

Now that you come to think of it I suppose Christmas is getting real close! I tend not to bother with it though, I just don't have the funds. In terms of family they are non existent but I do have a friend that comes over for Christmas. I do like buying things for myself, I think this aspect is important as it makes you feel good and keeps you happy and content inside. I think it's all about saving for what I want though, one item at a time. It would sure help if I had more money in my life, I would definitely go on a shopping spree then! I enjoy buying things on ebay as they are relatively cheap there and I enjoy the whole bidding experience. I'm not going shopping yet, I think I will give it a few weeks. Andrew

So far, I bought my own unit of personal computer with a printer. I decided to purchase it because it help to find an easy access to internet to look for an online income opportunity. With my printer, I'd accepted partime work from my friends who wants my layout and program making. And now, I realize how it helps me so much to have this.
