buxify.com can i earn without having any referrals

i did some research regarding this ptc/profitsharing site call buxify. based on some credible reviews, this site is legit, paying and a good one. having read this article http://buxify.com/benefits.php?r= , im wondering, is it possible to earn from them without or say, a few referrals? suppose i click on 200 ads, it says im guaranteed to earn at least of $3. now i know the site requires some form of investment before i could avail of the cashout. this is not really a concern for me granted that the 200 clicks are guaranteed. this leads me to a bigger question. have i missed something in this "scheme"? is there a catch (other than the investment of course) on this program that would not guarantee me an ROI? maybe like 200 clicks are not really guaranteed per user. a detailed review/testimonial from pioneers of buxify would be much appreciated.
