our child is four years old and from the day that he can sit alone on a chair he always observe his mother when preparing the things she needs for cooking. like cutting veggies. he is very interested with that. so even it is not yet time to teach he already engaged his self with watching and imitating what his mother do. he also loves watching cooking shows. one day we saw him at the table while my wife needs to get something. we caught it on video. feel free to search i provided a link here, not a referral link. i am happy to say that he is interested with cooking. this all started at a game in his DS and now he is trying it hands on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msOfi_C3pG4

Wow,i watched the video in amazement,in amazement that you let your boy hold that butcher's knife. I do teach my kids to cook simple dishes when they aged 8 years old. I start teaching them with cooking rice, boiled eggs, fried eggs/hotdogs and then later teach them simple menu like "adobo" I can say that your boy had the passion in cooking, that would be great, excellent chef makes good salary

my wife was very nervous but we are both amazed because he holds the butcher knife like a professional. my wife does not hold that knife that way when cutting veggies. i think he figured that out while watching the cooks on tv. my wife let him help with veggies for starters. thanks a lot for the response.

Wow! I am very impressed with his skills! He just might be a master chef...a resturant chain owner! He is really very talented. I don't even do that well with a knife! Thanks for sharing your video...he's impressive.

Wow. You're future chef here, 7. At his early age, he has already shown an interest in cooking and I love the thought that you and you're wife are very supportive and encourage instead of hindering him since there are utensils that can harm him. I know it wouldn't be that dangerous since both of you are there to guide him. Hope to see more episodes of him and his cooking classes.

yes he is. his mom even sew an apron for him so he can wear it when he feels like he is a chef. one of our friends told us that there are kitchen utensils that are available that is harmless for the kids. he can cut soft veggies with that but not hard one. he can also take of shells of hard boiled eggs. thanks for your time on watching the video and thanks for the response too.

That's a pretty big knife for a 4yr old to be handling! I'm only letting my 8yr old use a knife under supervision. My kids have always been interested in cooking, how to add things to the mixing bowl and cut things up and of course be taste testers.

yes it is a pretty big knife, but it was not intended for him to use. my wife is the one who was cutting the cabbage but she just turn around to get something and when she came back this is what she saw. our son trying to help her. thanks a lot for your time on watching the video. yes cooking needs adult supervision. thanks a lot for the response.
