That hit people out of the blue sometimes. A little back ground before my question to make it more interesting and for mylot filler .My in-Laws(wonderful people btw)were farmers but have leased out their farm ground to someone else years ago . For a long time they grew a huge garden and sold veggies and fruits at farmers market Plus have a christmas tree farm .Okay my father in law is now 80 years old and has a full time job , he refuses to retire , I think thats what keeps the man going. Anyway he still grows a garden just not so big.
When I was young My grandma use to buy me the yellow watermelon they were so good , and now you can't hardly find them in any of the stores and I haven't had one for years . Well yesterday my hubby came back from helping his dad do some stuff at his place and came back with a yellow watermelon for me. I was so Excited .. Yay! We cut it tonight and it was as good as I remember them being.
So my Question for you Mylotters out there is Do you have a favorite kind of fruit or melon from your child hood that you haven't had for awhile ? Or even a food of any kind that brings a certain person to mind when you eat that food? The yellow watermelon made me Think of My Grandma Mattie first thing.

Oh that is so wonderful that your in-laws planted that fruit, and your husband brought it home for you to enjoy. I also think it is wonderful that not only did it taste as good as you remembered it but also that it reminded you of happy memories of your Grandma Mattie.
There is a cake that was my sister's favorite. She was quite a bit older than me, so I am basically the same age as her children. While she was at work, I can remember deciding to bake her favorite cake and throw her a surprise party for her birthday. I had baked the cake with my mom before, but it was the first time that I was doing it on my own (well, with the help of her children). I forgot a key ingredient ... I believe it was baking soda or baking powder (whichever makes it rise properly). The cake was not very tall, but it still tasted delicious anyway. Every time that I have cream-cheese frosting I think about that, because that is where I learned to make and like that kind of frosting.

I can't believe that we are the only ones out there that have fond memory triggers. That would be such a depressing thought, wouldn't it?
All my memories are not good ones, but I will gladly bear the bad ones just to be able to cherish the good ones.
