travellers checks and money orders

I was recently offered an online job. One of the duties will be receiving bills and processing payments using travellers checks and money orders. I haven't replied yet with the employer and I am not sure whether it would be convenient on both of us since we are living in two different countries and these type of payments are not quite used in my country. I have some doubts about the validity of the email though the website seem to be legitimate. I wish someone can explain to me how money orders and travellers checks work especially, international, and especially for an export company.

I have a feeling that's a scam. Your online employer will ask you to open an account and he will clean you out. Think about - you have never seen each other, so why would he trust you with processing payments when you are in another country, far from his reach? If he is a legitimate businessman then he will make sure that he has an option should he be scammed. A relative of mine almost fell for this scam in the US. She was going to open an account until we told her not to do it. It turns out that it was a scam from someone based in Europe. I think I've received that kind of email - is that the one posing as a textile company from London? If he is legitimate, he will process payments in his country.

DON'T DO IT! That is a really big scam! The scams that I have heard that they want you to use your own money to buy the money orders or travler's checks and they will reimburse you and include your pay. By the time most people realize it's a scam, it is to late. They have already used their own money and will never get it back. Check with your local, regional or national governments to see if they can refer you to a government department or an organization that monitors businesses, both online and regular businesses. In the U.S. we have an organization called the Better Business Bureau that business people belong to and the BBB keeps records and takes complaints. Who would actually send money to a stranger so that they can buy money orders for them? There is an old saying, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is!"
