If your boss would ask you this...

What can we do to make your work a better place for you? What will you answer him/her? Exactly what is it that you want your company to have right now that you feel your company lacks?
Is there anything you think that your boss can do to improve your workplace.. or do you think he is just asking that to make you feel that they are doing something about it?

well increase the salary, 1 employee 1 working area, and 1 laptop and oh please construct an elevator or a escalator because it is freaking tiring going up and down 3 floors the entire day. :)

I ask these questions to my staff at least once a year during employee surveys. There are some things that cannot change so no need to focus on those - salary and benefits. I tell them to focus on things that we could change on a local level like employee morale, comfort, and process. For example, we had few complaints about our chairs so we ordered new ones, we had some complain they could not locate information right away so we built new information bars in our computers. I also make them a part of the solution this way they partially own the problem too. They are more apt to try to make things work if they are accountible too.

"Well, that's easy, boss! Fix the air conditioner, build a nap room for afternoon hour, and clean that messy garbage laying around!"
