The young black singer from Zimbabwe, Gamu Nhengu, has been told that she mist leave the country. Loads of people were really shocked when judge, Cheryl Cole, was seen last weekend knocking her off the show - she had been a firm favourite with lots of people. It seems that 18 year old Gamu was allowed to stay in Britain as a dependant while her mother, Nokuthula Ngazana, studied at university but her visa has now expired and the family's application to remain has been rejected as they did not meet "Home Office criteria" - what ever that may be.The family now have to leave voluntarily or face deportation. A spokesman for the Home Office said the decision to axe the student from The X Factor was the business of the television show. He could not say whether Cheryl had come to her conclusion after talks between immigration officials and the programme's bosses. X Factor bosses are saying that "Gamu's visa being processed was not the reason that she didn't make the final 12." but I would have thought that anyone who watched the show on Saturday would have thought it very strange that she was dropped when much worse acts were chosen. Do you think had this visa question not been a problem that Gamu would have got through?
