I personaly like both turkey and ham.. we always have both at thanksgiving but i like my turkey dry and my husband likes his moist.. me and my husband have a great ham recipe for anyone interested were taking it for thanksgiving this year to my aunts house it is really delicious.. here is the recipe it is very easy to make :) coke ham grab a big pot.. big enough to put your ham in to boil buy some coke cola in the 2 ltr bottle.. i buy 2.. grab the brown sugar from the cabinet buy a nice size ham that will fit in your pot put the ham in your pot , throw a bunch of brown sugar, i like lots of brown sugar on top of the ham in the pot.. pour your coke cola over it i use 1 and 1/2 of my 2 ltrs of coke.. depending on my pot size and how much room i have.. boils this ham in the coke and brown sugar for at least an hour or two until it gets goood and brown looking.. this is our familys favorite kinda ham goes wonderful with mash potatoes we like the betty crocker kind easy to fix taste like homemade.. this ham can be a big hit at your thanksgiving this year i know it will be at mine.. enjoy and happy mylotting

I prefer turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Easter. When it comes to Christmas... well then I'd rather have other stuff rather than meat although we usually have ham or turkey or both for the family gathering. Thank you for the recipe... my sister makes something like that but I could have sworn she uses 7Up... might be wrong about that. As far as I'm concerned, *anything* that uses brown sugar HAS to be good! hehe

I am a traditionalist when it comes to Thanksgiving - turkey and only turkey, with all the trimmings, period. I would consider ham at Christmas, but prefer roast beef at that time. For sure, I like ham at Easter. My mom's recipe included brown sugar, mustard, cloves, pineapple, maraschino cherries, and ginger ale. Thanks for a great discussion.

Both turkey and ham are excellent choices for the Thanksgiving meal. Turkey does seem to be more traditional. Turkeys have been served at family thanksgiving meals for generations. having ham could be a good alternative for anyone who doesn't enjoy turkey. otherwise, have both. let friends and family decide for themselves.

Turkey is healthier for you, so I would go with turkey. I'm a vegetarian, though, so I wouldn't go with either!

For thanksgiving, we always have both - for variety, and so people who don't like (or can't eat) turkey can eat something else. I think it's great. It's tasty, and most of my family enjoys turkey... plus, it gets you even more stuffed than usual! It makes everyone happy. This coke ham recipe you put is sounds great, although we don't like coke that much in our family. Mashed potatoes is good with ham also!! YUM.
