Today and yeasterday i watched two great ice hockey games where two KHL clubs played at their home arenas against two NHL teams. The first one was in Russia, Saintpetersburg where hometown team SKA won NHL team carolina Hurricanes with result 5:3. That game was amazing and i was not so surprised by KHL team victory since SKA have some awesome and legendary players like jashin, Chejanek and Sushinsky. The second game was a little bit dissapointment for me since there our Dinamo Riga club from Riga, latvia lost to KHL team Phoenix Coyots with result 1:3. So result KHL vs NHL is 1:1 now. Am i only one who think that ice hockey teams strenghts around the world are not so ifferent these days?

I am from Latvia and can tell about my home team that it's only 3rd season after return to Russian Hockey League (Kontinental Hockey League), both previous seasons we got in play-offs, but agaist good opponents we do not play very well, but miracles happen. I enjoy both hockey leagues and think that they are pretty equal by this time.

Prieks satikt! hehe Sandis told that in interview about 3-4 days before the game with Coyotes, so i think that is no argument for so high level hockey players :) Also, why do you think Dinam0o play not so good against strong tems, i am in oposite opinion in this. Last year Dinamo Riga got into playoffs and played beautiful thriller of games agaionst very strong Dinamo Moscow (name after they merged into them). After i saw that game i was happy that our team was not set up to play against NHL teams like Penguins or Devils :DF Tikai Riga, Tikai Dinamo!

Unfortunately, I disagree. I think the game in Russia was played with different perspectives. The Hurricanes' team was just there as part of their pre-season conditioning, while the St. Petersburg team was out there to prove that they could run with NHL teams. Having said that, it would be great if the KHL teams could catch up to the NHL teams in terms of strength. Then champions from each league could play against each other to determine a world champion.

hehe, true, but just remember that mnay exNHL players are already in KHL teams and also NHL teams doesnt played against KHL champions AK-Bars - it could be much more interesting if there would be game NHL champs vs KHL chamops i think :) Also, for NHL teams that was last possibility to get in shape and proove that they can fight for place in playoffs, while our KHL teams doesnt get much from those games exept of maybe tiredness. For example Dinamo Riga team expenses was about 150000 euros, there was a little bit more than 10000 spectators at match and average ticet price was lets say about 25 euros which means that their income was about 250000euros, but there was still much costs associated with renting the arena, etc. In last few interviews Dinamo Riga captain Sandis Ozolins (ex-Stenley cup winner) said that team is tired from those long flybys to Russian far east and back, but the same could be said about Pjoenix team which arrived to Riga, latvia only some 2 hours before the game.
