I have been going to the island of Dominica (not the Dominican Republic) for over twenty five years. Most of my time has been spent in the southern parts of the island, Scotts Head, Grand Bay, Roseeau and such. It is beautiful. I recently spent a week in Portsmouth, in the north. It is the second city of the island, has a beautiful bay and it is not as steep as many of the communities on Dominica, plus it is nearer the airport! If you like laid back, you ought to go spend a few days on The Nature Island of The Caribbean!

I went to the beautiful island of St Lucia when I was 19 years old. I looked at the map and saw other islands like lovely Dominica. I have heard it is unspoilt and off the tourist track. Its place names sound very French apart from Portsmouth which comes from my home country. I think visiting the nature island of the Caribbean is a wonderful idea.

Like many of the islands, the French and British fought over Dominica for 300 years. There are names like Soufrierre, Coulibistri, Roseau and Loubierre, as well as Grand Bay, Protsmouth, Scotts Head and Castle Bruce!

Awesome! My dad went on a mission trip there in the 80s. He is a brick mason and helped with some construction at a radio station there! Most ppl have not even heard of this place.

rj1, I bet I have been to the radio tower, it is on the southeastern tip of the island so broadcasts can reach Martinique.
