I am a full-time groomer and I always like to keep my customers informed on how to take care of their pets, cats and dogs. I also raise my own dogs for show and enjoy it as well.

I see we are in the same buisness LOL. I have been grooming and showing since I was 10. I run a boarding kennel/ grooming shop and breed as well.

Oh wow! What kind of dog is your favorite to groom? Mine is the Schnauzer. I can zip them quickly and they always look so sleek and verocious then of course the smooth hair dogs are always fun. What kind of dogs do you show and breed? We are sticking to dachshunds. The ones we have keep us pretty busy. They usually always need some kind of grooming or meds. The wires are my favorites although I prefer the smoothies because of the lack of time grooming needed.

I love to groom bischons, they are so much fun. I breed and show cockers, boxers and cavaliers. Not picky about what I groom or board, even have had a dingo board before.

Dog Groomed - Dog Groomed
No, I don't. Is there a special reason that I have to do that? They don't have long hairs and as my vet said, I have to bathe them 1 a month.

Yes you still need to take the dog to the groomer unles you know how to express the glands in his rear! LOL Most people don't even know they exist or where they are, but it is an important part in keeping your pet healthy. This needs to be done every 6 weeks or so. When you see him "dragging" his rear end across your floor. They also need to have their toenails done and ears cleaned out

That is Coal. I have 22 dachshunds in all. I show them and love them and rarely breed them unless I am needing another show puppy. I hate cleaning up puppy poo! LOL

I have two Maltese dogs and get them groomed about once every six to eight weeks depending on how dirty they are and how much money I have. :)

Oh my. I sure hope you don't have to spend a lot to get them groomed. Here we charge about $20 to groom a maltese. To bathe one which includes all the services but the haircut it is around ten dollars. Thanks for your reply!

I am alsao a pet groomer but my faverite dog to groom is a mutt .I enjoy the first time a person brings in a dog that they just got to get it looking a little better they have really no idea what they want and allow me to be creative .Mutts have no standard grooming so it can be a chalange but to find that inter spark and go with it is fun .I also enjoy the fact alot of them don't reconise thier own dog when they pick it up and are so happy that this pretty dog is going home with them . I have litterly had people leave in tears of joy now proud of thier pet that they thought was sweet but ugly before .I think it is those jobs that see me through the nasty biting jobs we go see. I own Chihuahuas I also used to show and breed them they are a wash and go breed .I bath about once a month .My German shephard is bathed less brushed more ,how often depends on how bussy I am i hate to admit it bathing others dogs all day I get lazy at times .

This is exactly how I feel. It is also a sign of a true artist. Thank you so much for putting into words exactly how a real groomer feels!
