Hi. I have been wearing specs from the time I was 6 and started contacts only when I was 18 yrs old. By that time my power was -6. I had my laser eye surgery done 6years back. The surgery itself took just fifteen minutes. And there was no pain while undergoing the surgery. But there will be pain after the surgery and it might stay just for about 5 to 6 hours. But that would not be a problem as they would prescribe painkillers and having a good sleep will melt the pain away. I was able to see clearly immediately after the surgery was done. There was no need of glasses and that was a wonderful feeling for someone who has been wearing glasses all her life. The post operation period is more important and your doctor will brief you about it. For about one month you would have to be very careful and not strain your eyes much. You would have to apply drops etc. But then, clear vision without glasses is something I wanted all my life and was willing to undergo just these minor discomforts for a small period of time. Just check your surgeon and find out if the person is well experienced and authorised to do this kind of surgeries. It has been five years now and I have not had any problem till now. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The fear will always be there. But the results are much better and for me it was life changing. It gave me more confidence and withou the hassels of specs or having to clean the contacts, life was much easier and fun. I have not had any side effect till now. Anyway, if you decide to undergo the surgery, do keep in mind that relaxing and taking it easy for the first month is crucial to recovery.
