i get really hooked in a song because of the lyrics because it stays in the heart. but sometimes the tune or the music does not match with the lyrics... what makes you like a song? is it the meaning of the song or the beat of the music?

it actually depends on the type of music. I listen to a lot of different types and genre of songs. If it's a fast beat music, i don't care too much about the lyrics, just the beat that makes me groove with it is what i listen to. but if it is a love song or a praise song i focus more on the lyrics and the message, because it express more emotion.

the song that really means to me alot because i can really relate to it is Never Get over you Getting Over Me. I dont care which version but the lyrics and the beat compliment each other.

The song is complete when the lyrics matches with the music rhythmically. This kind of combination's can be seen only in the old songs. But still some solo songs(ex. Joanbaez) and instrumental(Ex. Kenny G) musics capture the heart of music lovers.

Right, there are instrumental songs that "speak". Somehow they convey a feeling of "love" or "happiness" or "sadness" without any words.

I think that they are both important but I tend to like the lyrics more I guess. A good beat is key, but if the lyrics are bad the song tends to get annoying. Instrumental songs can be alright if they are catchy but without lyrics they lack meaning in some way. I always appreciate a well written verse!

Hi there monmon, For me, I get attracted to a song mostly because of its rhythm and next thing in line, I learn to love it because of the lyrics.. But, there are songs also that gives me strong impact because of its meaning and specially if its the type of song that tells about love, or a sad song.. So I guess overall, it's the rhythm and its meaning that counts really.. Once they jive it makes a very nice song.. And most of us would definitely love it also..

in some case, i love the tune of the music better than the lyrics. because it is hard to find a song with a beautiful meaningful lyric nowaday.

yeah... there are some songs with good lyrics on it that makes us wanna listen to it because we can relate to the lyrics. there are also some songs with good melody and arrangement that will get your attention first before you could listen to the lyrics. for me, it actually does depend on the song... both works just fine for me.

It depends. If the melody is good but the lyric is not so good then I don't like the song. if the lyric is good but the melody does not match at all then I won't like it either. If both lyric and the melody are good, then I will like the song. If the lyric is crazy and the melody is crazy too, then I will likely listen to it lol.

I like the song for both its music and lyrics. However, since I listen to foreign music, I get attracted first with the beat and how it is interpreted in the music video. Later on, I'd look up the translation over the internet and when the lyrics turns out really good, I'd like the song even more.

The meaning of a song can be portrayed in both its lyrics and its rhythm aswel as its pitch and there are many other contributory factors. To love a song, it depends on the listener. The lyrics could be a factor which churn up an emotion inside you to make you like/love a song, whereas the same can be said for a classical piece with no lyrics but the instruments can portray a message just as powerful, through the beauty and emotion that is put into the playing of these instruments. Its a very in depth subject which people have debated for decades.
