Are Gift Wraps Equally Important As The Gift?

Gifts are tokens of love, appreciation and generosity and Gifts are often incomplete until they are wrapped. We give gifts on many special occasions, not only during birthdays, anniversaries, christening, graduation but also even on ordinary days especially when we want to surprise the recipient. I was choosing a gift for my godchild when I overheard the lady near the gift wrapping section saying that she'd rather use the "free gift wrapping services" of the mall because it is impractical to spend on gift wraps when the wrappings will only be torn apart and thrown away when the gift will be opened. Well, there's a superstition which says that when you are opening a gift, the gift wraps should be torn and thrown away so that you will keep on receiving gifts. (Just a superstition, though) Some people are very detailed and particular in making sure their gifts are exquisite and perfect for the recipient and this includes wrapping the gift with special care. For them a beautifully wrapped gift makes the gift more special and delightful to the person who will receive it. Come to think of it, everybody loves getting gifts right? On the other hand, there are also those who believed that the wrapping is not that important because regardless of the wrapper it is what's inside the "box" or the gift itself which matters the most. It's like saying "don't judge the gift by its wrappings." Some would even say, spending for the wrappings is a waste of money. I have no talent in gift wrapping, though I hope someday I will learn that craft. For now, I would have it wrapped after buying it or sometimes I buy matching paper bags or gift wrapping kits. I don't spend much in gift wraps as I'd rather spend more on the gift than the gift wrap. How about you? Do you give much value on the gift wraps when you give gifts? If you were to receive a gift will your appreciation of the gift be affected of its wrappings? Please share your thoughts, views, opinions and comment on this topic. Thank you mylotters! Have a good day and happy myLotting! :D

Some people I know give value on the kind of gift wrap they use when wrapping a gift. Maybe because the person receiving the gift including me will be awed and really say ahhh when receiving a beautifully wrapped gift. But for me, wrapping is not important when i receive a gift. The wackier or crazier the wrapper I would much appreciate it especially too if it's made with a personal touch like a page from a colored magazine. I also have fun wrapping gifts especially for Christmas with bright colored magazines or paper bags made from recycled paper or just plain bond paper but with cut-outs sitcking on the wrapper. But i also gift such gifts wrapped with these kind of wrappers if I really know the person. But of course i just choose a gift wrap and have it wrapped by a professional at the department store especially when giving a gift for a wedding.
