I haven't Been watching TV in a week.

Hello lotters, If you noticed in my previous discussions that I've been listening to radio, watching it in the internet or read it in the news paper. well, that's because our CAble had been disconnected last week. that means no television for almost 5 days. yesterday, i paid for the cable but was so shocked that it was the first time that they added a RECONNECTION FEE into the BILL. then i went home, i told mom about it. when she was giving me 10$, she asked me if i should do it. I changed my mind and said NO. we paid for the last balances but we decided not to have it reconnected. this is crazy, just like the Phone lines too? If i survived not having a cable for two months, probably it's best to have this cable cut for good. we might save more electricity this way. The only problem now is that my mom relentless spends more time in Facebook that i get pissed when ever she's interrupting my Mylot Schedule. and i only mylot when all of my house choirs are DONE.

Why don't you give her something that she will enjoy doing aside from internet surfing?

Poor you I don't really like having TV for myself but of course it is different when you are living with someone else. Worse if you have only one computer. Why don't you just pay for the reconnecting fee? Then at least you will be able to focus with your schedule for mylot? But it is understandable if you think that is going to put more into your bill too. I'm living alone and I have my own laptop, so I don't really need TV and I don't have to struggle with the issue of using things that I have because I'm sharing them with no one. So I'm really happy living like this Have a nice day!

Hello kodu, WOW! I envy you there, to be honest, If i have a laptop, it's going to be all that i need to mylot and not the PC. it's probably nice to live a normal life with out too much addicted on shows or movies, i like that perception. obviously, you have lessened you're own burden in terms of depending on technology

I guess I'm the opposite then. After going without cable for almost two years I finally decided to get it again. Before I got a bundled package that consisted of only the internet and the phone. But I found out that I could have gotten cable into the mix for the same price as I was paying before. So, I figured "Why not?" It wasn't going to raise my bill up or anything and it would be nice to have something to watch again. I just have to get a cable line to run to the TV in my room because I don't feel like fighting other members of the family for the remote control.

Hello saizo6, Me too, besides in my situation, it's just me and my mom. the only even that she watch is the NEWS, whether local or international. wow, you went with out cable for that long?! i wonder, maybe i should give it a try so that i don't have to be too dependent on television. sometimes, i feel useless and done nothing to do with out the television

It's bad to have to do without television, isn't it? It is to me, anyway, lol. Even if I'm not watching it, I still like to have it on for noise. My house is very quiet without something going. That's because I'm set back quite a ways from the road and I was told that when my daddy built this house, he had the walls soundproofed because he liked peace and quiet back then. I think it's ridiculous that your cable company wants to charge you a reconnection fee! I think in this case you're better off to do without it. That's up to you, of course. I hope I don't sound like I'm telling you what to do. There's so much that's not fit to watch on television any more, anyway.

Hello cyrus, Yes, we didn't have this before. When ever i pay full, they usually take care of the reconnecting with out the R.FEE. they must have imitated this from a local Internet and Phone Subscriber because they have this scheme as well. I hated it so much, they should give considerations to old members as we have been a subscriber since 1998. makes me wonder, if am gonna reconnect again if we get cut off

Hi, Sometimes I am really busy with my schedule, I will miss out the TV show for few days and I don' t really realize that I have not been watching Tv for a few days time. My house is also using Cable and now is my father in law paying for the bill. Last time, the bill was paid by my husband, but since my father in law has got another cable line, there is no point to have 2 cables at home, therefore to save cost, I got my husband to cut off the line under his name. Talking about phonelines, my house line was cut off last 2 months due to late payment on my phonebill, My husband overlooked the bills and the line was cut off without our notices. Only there was one day, I wanted to make phone call then only I realized the house line has been cut off and I straightly went to pay the bill in full and gave call to the telecommunication company to get my houseline reconnected back.

Hello Shia, When it comes to phone lines here, we are notified through computer generated calls or disconnection noticed before the actual cut off begins. if we don't do something in a few months, that's the time they call with a REAL person to have us reminded to pay. if not still, then, they disconnect us.. you're right, there is no point of having two cables

Hello cricketpro, thanks for your suggestion there, but usually when i see her doing that i would sleep or watch tv until she tells me that she's done. i learned a lesson there, besides, she doesn't spend that much compare to me. i used gloves since the mouse create some sort of static to the handsit's an old mouse btw

mothers past time is truly television, if you take that out i am sure she will find something that she can focus with and that is the internet. i am not a tv person myself but my wife is. so if that happens in our house i know my wife will also be spending more time in the internet. so i make sure i pay the cable bills or else i too wont have my time on the pc.

hello seven, well, i should have hoped that's HER ONLY pass time. but it's not just that, she also liked to facebook and every time she logs in, there's a new message or some one she can chat herself to. the cable is now 11$ or more likely 500 Pesos more. have you ever invite her to mylot? am sure she can add to your benefit if she becomes you're referral.. but then again, it's mylot time that concerns you. have a great day and keep paying those bills.

actually my wife is roni's friend and she was the one roni is inviting to join to mylot, but i was the one she pushed to join. she said that she enjoys the reading but it would take up more of her time if she joins. so i guess she is more on giving way for me to have my PC time. she looks around the internet too but not most of the time.

I havent had cable since i moved the first of july. I dont really miss it. I have tons of movies both on dvd and vhs. Im usually on computer. Either online or off. When im off i play sims3. I would not be able to handle sharing a computer. Anyways i live alone so i dont have to. Once i was showing somebody something i made on a CD and he erased hours of work that i did. Because he was computer illerate.

Lol!!! I was bored and was looking for a game without killing and stealing in it and a friend suggested sims. I started out with sims the complete. Then i got the sims2 and now sims3. Sims 2 was tons of fun. I still have mine too but dont play that one anymore. Sims3 is even more fun coz its seemless. I love it. I got hooked on the aliens. Sims3 you can create them too. Why didnt you start playing sims3??? Yea i dont have to share my computer with anyone. If i did share a home with someone i would insist they have their own computer.

Hi Letranknight... that happened to us, too... though my mom still wanted to get it reconnected, so we did. I haven't watched tv like I used to for 3 years mainly because I work and live in the city and I gave my tv to my mom 3 years ago. I just get to watch tv whenever I visit my mom and bro. As for your mom taking your mylot time for facebook, well, maybe you should just let her know that you had finished your chores and that if it's okay for her to have your turn on the computer. I think that many housewives get restless without TV and turn to other stuff to keep busy such as watch movies and play games online.

Hello kissieme, That is good to know that you're mom is still in some form of entertainment. I wish i had the way to convince her to be more comfortable using mylot. my mom doesn't have a thing to do if she's doing nothing.most specially after doing other house choirs. when ever i visit my bro, that's when i started watching their favorite noon time shows.

Most of the shows that you want to watch on cable is online. I only watch the news on television, most of the time on local channels, and the rest I just download. This way, I watch it on my own time. If you are suffering from news withdrawal, like me when I am in the middle of a project, I just go online and read the news. Cable is not such a big loss these days because of the internet. Try streaming the news so that you can get them fresh every time.

Hello the advocate I agree with you there, but even we got back our local cable, I still don't watch much news..i think i got used to the fact that i can only do mylot or other online earnings and not just watching tv anymore. actually i wanted to change it to watching tv in my computer. but i will seriously bothered by mom by watching tv instead of me mylotting.

I've been living for years without TV, though I've been stuck with the internet in return. Reconnection fee despite paying your previous balance? That's just dumb. Then again, I also experienced that. We used to have Cable all over the house, the problem started when the cable company decided to upgrade the cable into a box. Since it is free, my parents went with it. The problem was, since they installed the box, the rest of the house lost it's cable. And so no more tv, and if we want to put boxes in other TVs we'll have to pay more. Since we've the internet. What's the point in those things? So... We didn't bother. Damn cable company is just getting too greedy.

Hello Sin, I felt so bad about this. I know we have been paying lately for our bills, but this is no reason for them to have us cost more simply because others can't pay on time. seriously, we can't even watch all shows on all channels in a day because some aren't my cup of tea. i guess that's part of life.

hi there i dont have t.v. either but to me it isnt such a big deal as for the most part you can catch the episodes you missed on the .com of the station that you like say ie. abc.com but for me it has never been a big thing but no so even less due to the fact that i built my computer and have a set up with 2 monitors so i can set on to either a movie that was gotten from the local library or downloaded from the net and on the other i can be doing my fav things on the internet like reading here or learning all sorts of fun stuff as well as trying to figure out how to make money online

Hello brokenankle, Uh, wait. two monitors? are those flatscreens? or old type? but don't you know how consumable it is. but if that is for you're convenience, why not? but surely i am satisfied with only a one big flat screen monitor nice colors. i wouldn't want to have monitors with color problem. just like what I am having now.

16 Oct 10
they are the newer flat screen ones and its not so consumable when the extra monitor was getting thrown in the garbage for only minor scratches and the monitors are both 19 inches and there is no color problem on them ...its mostly about the graphics cards i have read about a new one out that can have up to 6 monitors hooked up to it but you need a really good computer to do that mine is set up so that i can do more things at a time ... if you need help with your computer you can contact me and i might be able to help you out with your issues

I do not imagine our television without cable. WE do not watch local channels now a days and if I will decide to cut it, then my father will get pissed. so my friend, if that is your situation you have to choose. It is either you will reconnect the cable or wait till your mother get bored facebooking?

Hello Grecy, that's probably because you're dad must have been regularly watching a program there. my mom obviously wanted to watch tv since she noticed my time with mylot is decreasing. or probably she just wants to watch tv since i need time for my pc. and this every night is the only time i need to be in the internet, via mylot

oh my I love my cable internet and was just thinking I need my net as I cannot afford to buy a television. I hope you and your mom can work out a schedule or could she possibly buy a laptop? then you could both use computers at the same time. my son had to bring his computer up here to my room as he had had it in t he common area and some of the idiots there got the weird idea that computers were instruments of the devil. how bizarre can they get? He was on his laptop me on my elderly computer and both doing our own things, more fun as we stopped and talked occasionally too.He also has his desktop computer here. He took his laptop I guess its really a notebook as its smaller than a lap top but he can have that in his room. Hope things go better for you financially. I know how it is to have to watch all my money constantly. lol

Hello Hatley, Actually when i went the office where am supposed to pay for the cable connection and it's irritating reconnection fee. then, i noticed this flatscreen monitor in the computer. i didn't get it until i read you're responses. frankly i was thinking of this as well, but unfortunately, if that happens i won't be able to use computer more timely since mom is going to watch cable in the pc.

We’ve never had cable TV and it is not really something we are planning to get because we don’t have a great deal of time to watch TV and lately the free to air stations have added quite a few new digital channels to their listing so there is plenty for us to enjoy. We are on a budget and cable television is an unnecessary luxury we don’t really need. You may have to work out a roster for the computer between you and your mum!

Hello Paula, Well, we only watch movie channels when there's a box office hit. and then with cable that are originally from our local media networks. local channels makes news at night and almost midnight only. well, i let her do facebook in the morning and then i would do mylot from afternoon to evening. . so that she can get tired of using facebook. trouble is she rarely mylots.

We don't have TV in the house and we never plan to buy one. Since we can watch most programmes on BBC iplayer with our computers, there's no need to pay for TV license. Besides, having a TV set in the house will just occupied more space. And even if we don't watch anything for few months, we don't feel that we've missed anything. But companies which provide something for daily use, such as gas companies, TV license, phone lines, or bank accounts, they always have many smart policy to charge you for whatever is defined as 'service' in their terms. No matter how careful you are, they always manage to catch you off-guard.

Hello his0yir, That is even cooler, i just can't resist feeling envy with the latest technology lately. i couldn't buy them since they are expensive. you know what's the worse recently, i was shocked that they actually added a cable reconnection fee when they're not supposed to. if i ever get a jobl, i would seriously cut our tv cable. who needs watching all of those things anyways

Gosh Letran I know this feeling, I had to make a choice and decide to keep and or disconnect the cable, after losing my job with no income it was deciding on what was important. I do miss my TV and DVR... Oh how I loved my DVR but I was paying like 90 bucks a month and well 90 for my DVR and cable or eat. Eat won of course. Cute that your mom uses Facebook and maybe she may get a bit bored with it after some time. Maybe the savings will afford a secondary pc, so it may not all be a loss. Nonetheless, maybe a discussion about scheduling x amount of time between the two and maybe that may just work. If you are able to get a secondary pc, ask your mom to sign up as your referral on myLot that will gain some extra few bucks there.

Hello Hardworkinggurl, My mom is already a mylotter but she likes facebook better since she is more of a chatter than a post maker. she has a cool account by the way but she's not active, but rarely. 90 bucks! few that's a lot of money, there's no way we could afford that much. but we did actually, it's just that we didn't realize we can lower the subscription. but you know if we ever get disconnected, I am strongly planning on not using it again...

Hello kristeena, We do have equal time. normally, she would do it in the morning-afternoon. then, after that, i would do it from afternoon to evening, most specially when i am done with my house choirs. i do my choirs first before mylot so that there can be no more additional distractions. except that sales buying our ice for their shake business.
