I got a feeling that the Hungary team is on the rise. They have just whipped San Marino 8-0 in a Euro qualifying match. While San Marino is no big team, the result was a great one nonetheless. I remember they were riding high during the qualifying round for the the world cup. In fact, at one time, they look like denying Portugal of a playoff spot, only to fade off in the latter stages. Now, they are third in their group behind Holland and Sweden. What do you think?

I saw Hungary's game against England, and they didn't play too badly.
I think the problem is that so many people think of the great Hungarian teams of the 50s and 60s, and players like Puskas, so the present-day team gets criticised unfairly - Austria seems to have this problem as well.
They seem to be improving slowly, but a result against San Marino means nothing - the Hungary amputee squad could probably beat them 8-0.

If you'd know how much expectations we have on football, we need the joy which a qualifying to the Euro Champ or World Cup can provide. We Hungarians had many disappointments during the history and sports successes made us very happy and proud. I was born in 1989 and I don't know how it is to experience a great Hungarian team like it was the Golden Team which had Puskas in its rows. The success of the U20 during the World Cup in 2009 when they reached the third place made us hope that we will have a senior national team in the near future which is able to qualify for a major tournament and make a great figure there. I hope that this will happen very soon, if not now, then in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

I hope that Hungary will be a great team, just like it was in the past, but it is very difficult. They played very well against San Marino, but the problem is that everybody will win against San Marino, so it makes no difference. And I have to say that Hungary seems without chance against Holland, and we don't have luck against Sweden, they are the bestia nerra for us. The U21 team reached the third place in the last u21 World Cup, and slowly the players from that team are integrated to the senior team and this gives us hope. It would be great for Hungary to qualify, but I think it will not happen. But I think that we will be there in 2014 at the World Cup, if the young players will be successfully integrated in the senior team. The potential is there, but we have mentality problems, most of Hungarians are very impulsive and that is why we have lost so many games in the last minutes in the past.
