I feel pity today for those small dog that I see hiking with their others. The dogs are so tiny and fury and they really look exhausted. It was hot a their tongue is put out and saliva is dripping from it. My grandma said that dogs do that because they feel so hot and thirsty...
Is hiking bad for small dogs?
I saw big dogs hiking and they look fine.

no it's not, hiking is very good to dogs... remember an exhausted dog is a happy dog... dogs do the tongue thing cause it is there way of eliminating body heat, dogs don't perspire unlike humans... i have a dog and i take them out for a walk and hike 2 times a day... and them behave really well unlike those days that they only stuck inside our house

good thing I learned that, I don't have a dog because I am not allowed to have one, but I am so fond of them. Thank you. Now I will now feel worried every time I see them hiking.

I think small dogs are not really compatible with hiking.they are not really active dogs.for hikers it is much better to get an active dog, like a German Shepherd or Golden Retriever.when getting a dog,it is better to consider the lifestyle.furry small dogs can get heat stroke and dehydrated when they are out hiking in the sun.

Running for all dogs whether small or big is a very good exercise. I just hope dog owners know the limits of the small dogs. As they do get tired too, so hopefully they are being hydrated and taking breaks.
