Going to Church Doesn't Save You

First of all... I'm not saying that going to church is bad. In fact I was in church awhile ago. Now... Here's what I noticed, many people go to church and think that by just going to church, they could be saved. They go to church act holy and peaceful but when they go out of the church. Back to being idiots and a**holes. I really find it so wrong how many people end up with a clear conscience after going to church. Sure you ask forgiveness in church. But that really isn't what its all about. Its like sin all week then when Sunday comes, cleanse yourself and you're guilt free.

If people think that going to church is going to save them and not Jesus Christ, or they feel no convictions about how they are living - then the preacher isn't doing a very good job - or these people have hardened their hearts to the point where it will take a miracle from God to turn them around. The only thing you can do is go to church for yourself and stop worrying about other people. When you stop looking at others and looking at God, you'll have a more enjoyable time.

True, I do that. But outside the church is where I see them doing bad things, like my neighbor, I see them going to church, but outside, they start going back to their true form. Anyways... The preacher isn't to blame at times, there are those who go to church without even listening to the preacher.

Forcing yourself to church is wrong so I guess you did the right thing. You should go with your free will and all. Going half-heartedly is probably same as not going at all.

Save you from going to hell. Or save you from sins, whatever reason people go to church for.

congregating in a natural thing for true christian and a requirement for the interchange of encourage. I do agree with you own a church today the way the worship on Sunday and what they do rest of the week is truly no Christ-like

I must agree with you that going to church doesn't save you. And really it's making no difference at all in someone's life if they are "living like the devil" all week and simply repenting on Sundays! I think the whole thing comes down to a whole lot more than just attending a service on Sunday morning...

Dude I know how you feel. Many people think that by going to church they'll go to heaven when in fact they are a55holes.

You don't go to church for those people, you go to church for your own salvation. Some people never will change, as long as it doesn't make you bitter.

During religion class that topic was discussed. Emm it was said that the church is encouraging people to go to mass every Sunday even if they don't feel like it, due to the fact that, everyone present in the mass gets included in all of the prayers, or something like that.

Are the ones teaching you priests or something? Usually those kind of teachers really tell people that going to church is a must. Nothing wrong with it, as long as people don't do bad stuff after and think they'll be forgiven by their usual Sunday mass.

For me, the purpose of going to church in every assembling time, aside from hearing instructions, is to exhorting with each other members, and by that your company shall remain intact. In fact it is a commandment not to forsake, let's read it in Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching"

Sadly in our church, the only interaction time we get with each other is when we say "peace be with you" and when praying Our Father. The rest of the church time people ignore one another. :(

I want to kiss your feet right now. This is why I stopped being Catholic. People would go to church just to put on a show and make everybody think; including themselves that they are saints, once they are out of the church they go back to being hypocrites. I don't think you need to go to church just to prove your faith.

Yes. You don't get automatically save by just going to church. In order to go to kingdom of heaven, we must follow the ten commandment. Only the purest people that go to church will be save. You can do all the good deeds but if you don't go to church you still won't be save. And so is vice versa, no matter how many time you go to church in a week, but if you do not do goods outside and break the commamndment, you still won't be save. It is only by following the ten commandment that people will be save.

I agree with you there. Although, church can be anywhere. You can declare anything as the church as long as you try to feel the presence of god. :)

Hi SinRealm! There are many people who just go to church traditionally. I mean that it's like it has been a habit for them to go to church every sunday but doesn't change anything. I believe that we go to church for the reason that we are already saved! The moment we accepted the Lord in our hearts then our sins has been cleansed. The difficult part is how to maintain that salvation until Christ returns. Now we go to church because we want to praise Him and glorify Him and bring to Him the honor He deserves. We go to church because we want to grow spiritually and that fuels up our faith.
