I had a similar problem when I was a freshmen in University. What I had to end up doing was move out, but we tried other things first. I talked to her and we tried to work out a negotiation but it didn't work out. (So when I moved out we were still friends, so it was fine :)). So I would say to talk to them and talk to them and see if they would be willing to negotiate and try to find something that works for you!

I can empathize with you since during college days whenever I attend a church camp I feel uneasy when I got no privacy at all. I don't want my things to be picked on when I am not around and it irritates me when some people uses them without my permission since its tiring to place all my things in a locked drawer or cabinet at all times especially when I am in a hurry to attend a session. I can't also sleep cause of the chatter going on but since I need my beauty rest I make do with a few hours of borrowed rest. One time a few months ago we attended an overnight affair in one of the private luxurious resorts and we were 8 in the room that when a door opens, a light opens or sounds are heard I wake up. What more for you. Poor thing. Anyways, college life is not forever so if you don't have the means to transfer to a one room dorm bear it with grace.

You live with 4 people and you're already on nerves. I used to live with 21 other girls and it was crazy. You could see a lot of 'actions' in the dorm. Usually they'll leave me alone as I tend to burst with anger if I am angry. I don't hit people but I do yell. Don't follow that though, bad example. But if they're noisy, you can wear earplugs. I did that and it work. For them not studying or whatever, just let them be. You do your things, they do theirs. If I need to study back then, I'll go to the study room or stay up when they're asleep.

I could offer suggestions like earplugs, sleeping pills, headphones, etc. but I don't think that's the answer. I think you are probably best off speaking to an RA, speaking to someone in the housing dept or seeing if you can switch rooms. I'd also try and talk to your roomies about being quieter after a certain point in the night- maybe the could sit in the common room and chat after 11 or so when you are trying to sleep. You are a student there too and have every right to get a decent nights sleep.
