I hate the fact that I always come up with a good response to a statement long after the opportunity to make it has past. I can get really annoying when that happens. I just wish that I could think of these responses quicker. Usually the ones that I do think of are really clever. But of course, it is too late for it to do any good.

I think personally, we have all been there a time or two, and it can be quite frustrating for sure. The main problem is usually it is too late, and sometimes may be a detrement for not being able to think of something better earlier as well. I guess that is the good thing with this site as you can take your time in responding and hopefully can do someone justice as well.

That is funny, I am the say way. I think when we are in a situation, sometimes it is hard to think clearly. However, with the benefit of hindsight, we are able to think of all of the things. I have these really good responses, but the problem is, they come hours or days or even weeks later. It is rather amusing to think about these situations at the time. I do wish I could go back and come across as witty, but that's not possible. Still, I would take off my hat, if was wearing one, at these people who come up with these witty comebacks on the fly. I and many others tend to get tongue tied and thus are unable to formulate complete sentences, when under pressure. Therefore, there are times where I wish I had come up with a response sooner.

Understood. Sometimes people need to think a lot to determine good response. I completely understand your feeling. But you know, it's better to be late but you've got good things in mind rather than be quick with the wrong way. Hope you will be able to learn to respond quicker and better!

Ah, so true... this has happened to me a lot of times, and it's so annoying indeed! It even has a name: "l'esprit de l'escalier" ('staircase wit' in French).
