Happy Thoughts

If happy thoughts are all that one needs to stay healthy why is it so difficult for us to occupy our minds with happy thoughts? All of us have had activities, memories, events filled with happiness. Is there no way to banish bad and unhappy thoughts and fill our minds with only happy thoughts?

Hello!
You see, if all depends upon us, how we 'tune' our mind at a particular point of time. If we tune our mind to channel 'N' (N stands for negative thoughts), then every negative thought will keep coming in our mind and it will be an endless process. If we tune our mind to channel 'P' (P stands for positive), which is difficult in comparison to tune, then only positive and happy thoughts will come in our minds. When I get upset, I count my blessings and check what positive I have gained from my life. Life is a journey our minds keep working 24x7 and positive and negative thoughts keep coming in our mind, we just cannot stop the flow of thoughts or the process of thinking.

it depends on the way of thinking of the person but sometimes taking on the positive perspective in a situation (no matter how bad it has become) can make the feeling lighter especially for the person who's bearing the difficulty.
however this is hard to do all of the time. after a few minutes or hours of happy thoughts, you will soon find yourself snapped back into reality again of a day filled with negative thoughts. it can be struggling to always contain happy thoughts but yeah it diverts attention for awhile.

I am an amateur in the Bible but there's a passage which says, "whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, things on these things". It is good to know about what to think so we can adjust ourselves to what is lacking in us.
