Why is it people lies?

When I was in college, I am a working student... I worked at one of video rentals here in our place...
Getting back overdue DVD's, we sometimes go to the house of the borrower or we call them first to remind them... One day, when I called one of the customers he said to me that he's going to return it later in the afternoon because he's father's very ill and he's going to take him to the hospital... ok then, I'll just have to wait for that DVD...
But then, after a while I talked to him I don't know why I called again... A man answered and I ask the name of the borrower... The man answered that the person I'm looking for just left...He said he can take a message and he is his father...
Eh, what? How many father's he has? So I said about that DVD that needs to be returned...
Hhmmmmnn... why people lies?

I believe all human beings lie, they lie to save themselves, to save others, to make other people proud of them, to make them happy or either to make them sad, or to make others happy and to make them sad. There are white lies, and there are lies that done with purpose and those that accidentally said. What that man does to you was alibi. He is just lazy to return the DVD to you and he do not care a lot to return it.

Because of being such a liar, and being such a lazy person he was fined 50 pesos when he returned that DVD... A liar and a lazy person comes with a price I think...

u know some times i lie just for make other people happy. some times jus tomake other people not to worry about me. but some times i lie just to make some one corious with me. not all lie for a bad purpose, sometimes it did just for protect some one. soo not all lie are bad and this good purpose of lie i called it white lie. im sure you will agree with me

I wonder wy you called him back. I guess it was because you thought he could be lying. We all are liers at one time or another for different reasons (even one so absurd as to not be blamed for not returningg a DVD on time). And as we grow, we learn about people liers because we see them in ourselves.

I have always had yot problem. It shows on my face when I lie. White lies are usually harmless and Isuppose this particular case means that the person did not dare tell you that he did not have time to retirn the DVD though I suppose that whatever the reason he would have to pay the extra time anyway.

Haha! Yes... we are all liars from different reasons and or situations... But as much as possible, I do not want to lie because I do not want people lie to me too... And besides, I am so use to be honest so I am not that good to lie...
Instead of lying, I say something that is not a lie at the same time not the truth too.... Hmmmnnn...

There are 4 causes of why people lie, namely: personality factors, namely the existence of certain individuals who tend to always lie. Social context factors, namely the existence of a particular social context that makes people do lie. Benefit factor for liars, namely the existence of benefits achieved for the perpetrators of lies. And finally, another factor that benefits to the benefits to others.

Ha? I'm a little confused about those factors you are talking about... i guess that is the terms in Psychology isn't? So what do you think that borrower I'm talking about fall into?

People usually lie if they want some benefit or some favors done for themselves. They are more concerned with private gain rather than public welfare. They are like black sheep. They can only be c aught red handed while lying and not anywhere else because they would deny that same thing. It would be really difficult for people to get away with lying. The greatest advantage with truth is that you don't have to remember what you said!

People get into lies, maybe because they hiding something for some reasons but eventually he will tell the truth in due time. Or maybe there might something happen to DVD that he borrows from you, his friends borrow it from him or he loss it. That's why, he didn't know what he will tells you then.

I guess many lies to save themselves. Not all people are able to face or speak the truth for certain things. They need lies to cover up. Sometimes they just need to lie to avoid shame. For me, I don't want to know or question why they lied. Just let them be.

In this case, that man who borrowed the DVD has no intention of returning it whatsoever. He lied to hide his true intention, just a cover up so as you will not bother him, at least, not for the meantime.
It is a lame excuse for being irresponsible.:(

Why people lies? First for me people lies because of his present situation that migth be he/she is in trouble if the truth will tell. People lie to protect someone, to scape of blaming, to become popular or his nature of being liar. And the most is human nature are liar in all aspect of lives. see you around..

I believe most people tell lies due to their childhood habits. If someone constantly tell lies during his/her childhood period, he/she usually ends up being a liar! It is the duty of the parents to advise and supervise their own children not to tell lies.
Another reason could be because of cowardness at heart where we need to tell the solid truth which requires bold decision.
