Banned to write an article

Philippines

just found out that helium.com don't allow Filipino bloggers to post in their site, I dont actually know what exactly the reason why but I think they maybe thinking that some of the Filipino are bogus, I'm not criticizing my fellow Filipino, its just so sad to think that some country wont trust us anymore because some of us are really bogus, i hate to admit that but its true. Out of 10 things if you made 1 mistake, others cant recognize the 9 good deeds because they are already focused with that 1 mistake. So sad but true, it happens to our lives also, we usually generalize things rather than patch it up and give a chance. Sad.

I have looked through the Terms and the FAQs and any other likely place and I can see NO reference to any restrictions on membership based on nationality or geographical location. Can you tell us how you found out this and (if it was from Helium) what their letter actually said? Helium do have very high standards for their articles but there is no reason for them to reject people from a particular country simply because, for many, English is not their first language! I have frequently found, in fact, that such writers are actually able to write better English than native speakers! The only other reason that I can think of would be that, for some reason, Helium are unable to make payments to certain countries. They pay by PayPal so, just as with MyLot, there are certain countries which are not supported but, as far as I know, the Philippines are not one of those.

I tried to apply to write but, it says I can only enjoy reading the articles their members wrote but I cannot apply to write because we are not supported. It was not really stated that The Philippines is not allowed but since I cannot push through, I think they are not allowing members from the Philippines. But, I guess you're right discrimination may not be the reason why I cant apply, maybe for some reasons like the payment system. I should be really reading FAQ's or research more about something before I conclude. Thanks for taking time. :)

Many sites doesn't accept filipinos. Those sites usually doesn't accept much of Asian countries and the Middle East. Yes it's sad, but even some payment processors like paypal doesn't allow all countries. I am from Denmark, so there is not really a problem there, only the geo targeted stuff, like some myLot tasks, is what I can't do. Try Triond, I think they allow you to post :) Happy myLotting!

I think Helium used to be open to everyone in the world. They accept any nationalities. I think due to some misuse or some other reasons, they're starting to ban people from certain countries namely the Philippines and India. But those who are already members before they started this policy are still considered members and are able to submit articles for payment. I think you just happen to submit your application for membership after Helium started to ban people from certain countries or IP address.

I think something must have gone wrong as I write on Helium and know of at least three people on there who are Filipino, check again.

Hi! If this is true, then helium.com has all the right to impose sanctions commensurate with the violation. But to impose a drastic measure such as this against the entire Filipino race because of the indiscretion of a few is totally unjust and way out of proportion. I am a proud Filipino and I also love blogging but I would gladly dispense away blogging if helium.com is the only blogging site left on planet earth. In this case, helium.com does not deserve Filipino patronage. Not a big deal though, I have not even heard about helium.com until today. Cheers my friend!

I'm not sure what your case is but I am a Filipino and a member of Helium. I am not active in that site but I have some articles published there, and my specified place of residence is the Philippines. Whatever your problem was, did you ask the admin about it? I don't really think there is such an existing discriminative provision in their FAQs.

They're not banning Filipinos because they're Filipinos. They only accept writers who are American citizens. This makes it easier for them so they can track the money they are paying out. They would have thought of a better system, but instead they go the easy way. I am a US citizen but I am problems because I live in the Philippines. I need to fill in forms that require things that I don't have right now, like a TIN # from the US.
