I've been on a weight loss roller coaster since I was 20. I was busty and shapely all through school then one day a few years after graduation I noticed I packed on pounds to about 180 I think. I didn't even realize I had grown that much. My weight all through school was 120 and in all the right places. I went on SlimFast and lost it all. I was even fitting into my pants I wore at 17. Then I got married and after the first child I think I went up to 180 again. After the second I ballooned up to 200. I tried everything. SlimFast, eating less, weight watchers, starving and NOTHING worked. Starving let me at least lose, but I would gain it all back. The others would either make me gain or maintain my weight. Then my friend told me about Atkins. I tried it. I lost 60 pounds and landed at 140 until I got pregnant again. I kept off most of the weight during pregnancy and then went to 220. I was crushed. While trying all those diets again I gained and went up to a whopping 260. My doc told me I was ruining my knees and if I wanted to continue to walk that I would need to lose weight. So I tried Atkins again and lose 70 pounds. My cholesterol tests were excellent and he couldn't believe it. I looked and felt great and stayed that way for about a year. The the snacking came creeping up. I was stalling on the weight loss and getting depressed about it. Instead of just waiting it out I started trying other crazy things like Kimkins and starvation. I went on a roller coaster of eating and dieting and gained all the 260 back plus 6 more pounds. In the spring of this year I had had it. I tried to lose weight again, eating less, Atkins, etc, and NOTHING was working. I couldn't even lose a pound. Then I did something a little crazy. I tried hCG. I did the load days that brought me to 267 and then cut down to 500 calories. I went down to 258 doing this BUT I hated only eating 500 cal a day and I was feeding three kids which made it extremely difficult. I kept on the hCG and started upping my calories to the eat fat get thin plan (since nothing else worked). I've lost 12 or so pounds now. I've been losing about 2 pounds every few days. So now that I'm at 253 as of this morning I might just keep a log here since I'll get paid for it anyway. LOL Any other blogging systems that will pay me to keep a log of my journey with pics? I'm assuming I can add pics here. Go ahead and tell me how the diet doesn't work. I welcome the discussion. But I am living proof that nothing else works--not even eating and watching the calories and I'm too overweight to really put in some extra exercise although I am starting to do leg lifts (supposedly it's 2 cal burned per lift) until I can do some serious walking and then weight training. The hot tub will be too hot to swim in while the pool is closed plus I don't want this body out in a suit yet anyway ;)

I am just lucky my metabolism is fast and that I don't get extra pounds easily. But I tried to discipline myself with exercise, sports, food and de-stressing activities. It's everything about balance. Don't restrict yourself from food diet, instead go the eat-a-little way but not to the point of starving yourself. Starving can make binge eating. Exercise more often so that you can burn those fats and makes your heart healthy. And I think what is important is a stress-free YOU. Stress is a BIG factor.

I've been in a own weight loss program since two years. I only eat rice 1-1 1/2 cup a day. I regularly jogged thrice in a week and i maintain exercises. For me, the main thing in weight loss is self discipline and control. When you're out of this picture, no matter what weight loss program you'll adapt, it will still useless. I jog, exercise regularly and some diet program.

I think I would go crazy on 1 1/2 cups of rice a day and only that. Unfortunately, rice just makes me want to eat more rice. I'm glad it's working for you though :) What do you do about your protein needs?

I have never hard of the hCG. I am not sure what it's all about. I think if you are really looking to drop the pounds you need to be honest about what you are eating and drinking for that matter. to only eat 500 calories is nuts, so yeah don't do that. YOu should be taking in about 1200 to 1350 each day. you should be having 5-6 small meals each day. lots of fruit and veggies, and as much water as you can stand. at least 8 glasses each day. and you need to start working out. 30 mintues a day is great. you said you have three kids, take them for a half hour walk each night. a nice fast walk 15 minutes one way and then 15 minutes back. you do that each day you will stat to see the pounds drop. don't do any thing that is going to strain your knees, but walking to start is the easiest. I would love to follow your log here!! I wish you the very best of luck!

Thanks :) I am honest about what I'm eating and all those starchy carbs and wheat did me no good. I loose weight when I up the fats and level out the protein and carbs. I lose weight. In fact, I spent the first time on Atkins eating mostly cheese and meat, and I mean a lot of cheese, and I lost like crazy and even faster that the other times. It just made it hard to...you know lol poop so that wasn't fun. I'll update every day on what I've had. I can just copy and paste it from fitday I suppose.

To lose one pound of fat, you must burm approximately 3500 calories over and obove what you you already burn doing daily activites. That sounds like a lot af calories and I certainly wouldn't want to try to burn 3500 calories in one day. However, by taking it step-by-step, I can determine just what I need to do each day to burn or cut out those extra calories: I keep track of how many calories I eat. I use a site like "Calorie count" and use a food journal to write down what I eat and drink each day.

I am on my 3rd day of the HCG diet and have lost 3 1/2 lbs so far. I work out with eating my 500 calories so that helps drop the weight faster. I absoultly hate the diet!! I am trying to get my last 20lbs of baby weight off. I did it right after I had my daughter and lost 15lbs and have been able to keep that off for 3 months. I didn't want to do the diet again because it is so hard to stay on but because I know it works and I am so desperate now I am willing to do it. It will work great if you keep it up!! Are you taking HCG drops or injections? I hear the injections work better but I take the drops and I lost my 15 lbs in 23 days before. The first week you loose a lot, The second is slower so don't get discouraged! You can drink diet pop. I don't suggest it but it has 0 calories in it and will feel you up and give you energy. Also if you are having with snacking and portion control and this doesn't work for you, you may want to check into the lap band. I don't have one but knows someone that does and had struggled just like you with the same weights. She is now at 145 lbs and still loosing but very settle so it doesn't hurt your body. It just helps with portion control. Good luck with your journey!!

I couldn't deal with the 500 calories. I've got too much stress with family and money issues to do that right now. Good luck though. I've heard a lot of people who do great on it.

I don't think your past diet regimen are not working anymore, you probably just want to try new methods because you got bored of them. I myself is on a diet right now, I like to run but I do not want to hurt my knees that support my upper body weight. What am doing right now is that I cut out 80% of my carbs intake (rice, yeah rice..I am a Filipino,LOL) and I eat more lean meat cuts, poultry and lots of vegetables. I lost around 5 kilos in a month... a bit slow but am taking time so that I do not stress myself out. When I lose 10 kilos I will definitely start running again with my huskies! Don't stress yourself by counting every calorie of the food you take, just teach yourself first to eat a little less of everything, specially fatty foods and sweets. Oh yeah! Do you know about Les Mills? I lost a lot of weight because of that and it's so much fun! Good luck with your weight loss! =)
