My computer has a mind of its own.

I need to make sure my pc is at the right time but it does what it wants. When we changed the time in the spring, my pc didnt, I had to manually do it and then everytime I would start it, it was back to the old time. After doing it manually 3 or 4 times, finally it stayed at the right time. Now it seems its never at the right time. I change it and....what do you know, a few minutes later, its back to the time IT wants and its not the time I want.
Does it mean that we cant fix the clock on our pc and it has to be at the "world" time??
Does anyone know?

All I know is that if your time on the computer is wrong then the computer will not work properly.
On a couple of occasions only I have had some serious problems. After contacting my ISP and spending hours checking settings and drivers and what have you they ask me if the time is right. I changed it to what it was supposed to be and Voila! everything is working fine. That was a long time ago.
Hope yours is doing better.

I have a new computer running Windows 7 which I love...I recently downloaded the newest version of AVG and I have to say I'm having some minor issues. I think though that between themselves they are working things out but there have been a few times when I have scratched my head wondering what the Sam Hill is going on.

I couldnt install AVG again, so I went with AVAST.....no time to screw around with AVG having problems.
Sorry you have problems also and congrats for your new pc with Win7!!

Its working fine now. I think it was my AVG antivirus not working properly. I uninstalled and reinstalled again and all is well now. You are right, the time is very important!!
Thanks!

Well it looks like you got quite a few good answers. I am clueless on this. I know how to change the time, however my computer doesn't give me any problems...thank goodness because I would have absolutely no idea how to change it. Hopefully you will be able to fix the problem.

Among the possibilities are
1) The battery on the motherboard, if there is one on yours, may need to be replaced. This is a common problem on PCs.
2) Your computer may have been hijacked by a remote server/computer. This is true if there is a consistent time difference. Mine used to be hijacked by several remote computers located in various countries until I installed Comodo Internet Security set to the highest protection level.

Hubby checked the battery and its doing good, so it could be #2.
I use a firewall and an antivirus but I'll download Comodo and use it now. I'll keep an eye on my clock and if it changes again....I'll know something is definitely wrong and my pc has been hacked!!
Thanks!

Hi, MagicalBubbles!
The most possible reason of the problem is that you did set the automatically synchronization with some external time server. Maybe it was set by some software you installed without notifying you. You can check the "Internet time" tab under "time setting" in the "Control Panel".

Hi Qianyun!
I just did that and set the time. I'll keep an eye on it to see if maybe my pc was hacked as someone said.
Thanks!!
