how should you address your boyfriends Parents?

I've been with him for more then 5 years now. I've met & been with his family several times also. But I get the awkward feeling whenever I need to tell them something or call them. We're not that close yet but I like them & I can see that they like me too. What is the proper way of addressing them showing respect. I dont want to be too casual or too familiar to interact with them just like common friends. Any suggestions?

Hi, You can try tito and tita or uncle and auntie,if you still feel awkward try calling them Mam and Sir but its too formal, unless its your first time to meet them. Some of them would even request you not to call them mam or sir instead tita/tita or even mom/dad.If you cant still decide, try asking your bf(Mariano) if what he thinks you should address his parents.:-)

I think it's best to call them Mr and Mrs unless they tell you otherwise.

well i guess calling them tito and tita is okay. but if you feel awkward then you can call them mam and sir. or why not ask your boyfriend on what to call them. he might have something to make you feel home. it is not cool to be casual on parents of bf/gf. my wife used to call my mother mam. and i call her mother mam too. but we are 8 years married so i call her mother, nanay for that is what they call her and she calls my mother mommy.

You can get away with calling them Tito and Tita in the Philippines. It's the norm and I don't think they'll mind.
