Look, XP and Windows 7 have good and bad things. 7 have won xp in almost all perfomances less speed to open task manager. Windows 7 is really faster than xp but you need to know that speed requires Hardware if you don't have a great hardware i don't see any advantage in change for windows 7.(If you have a Great computer i recommend you to change for windows 7)
I hope that helped you!
See you!

It depends mainly on your computer. When I was building my current computer, I built it so it could support Vista but I installed Windows XP on it because I didn't like Vista.
I installed Windows 7 later and discovered both Windows XP and Windows 7 ran at about the same speed. The thing that makes me stick to Windows 7 is that there are a lot of great interface changes made in Windows 7, so I find myself being quite sad when I have to use Windows XP again, because XP now feels much slower and heavier compared to Windows 7.

Nope, it is not true. As some other people already have said, Windows 7 uses more RAM than windows XP, and so is slower (especially on older computers). However, some new computers might be faster with Windows 7 than XP, because Windows 7 has an upgraded boot up time (If I remember correctly). Anyway... You can't compare XP and Vista, or Vista and Windows 7, or even Windows 7 and XP. The reason for this is that they all are different OSs (Operating Systems). An other reason why I am telling this is because Vista really sucked. I am sorry for all of those who even enjoy using Vista, but it wasn't even finished when Microsoft launched it...

Yes that is true @tata03:
Actually... His computer is more like "512 ram, nvidia 5200,Semprom 2300++" and not "2 gb ram,250 gb hd,intel core2duo or higher version intel prosser"...

You are kind of right that Windows 7 works on even older computers, but actually, Windows 7 will run at it's full potential only at higher specs...

Yes you are right! Windows 7 has an upgraded boot up time! But only for remember you can't have a windows 7 in old computer like mine(512 ram, nvidia 5200,Semprom 2300++) because aero in windows 7 need a powerful video card! And if you have a new computer is better use Windows 7 because you can use the all potential of your hardware!
See you!

Win 7 and win xp both are user friendly, comparably xp gets it more.
win 7 os needs higher configuration than xp.so it is always good in speed.win 7 is more animated and attracted os.win xp is fully performance based when compared to win 7,so it is seems to be xp is little bit higher speed than win 7.
I prefer windows 7 to use

The only thing I could say is that, If you don't like windows vista, much more windows 7. Now I am using windows vista in my dell laptop and I have no choice to downgrade it to windows xp because it is a preinstalled os when my aunt bought it form me and the chipset inside only support vista. and for experience I really like windows xp. Window XP is a user's friendly compare to vista and windows 7. My friend uses windows 7 and I don't like it.
But still it is your choice.

                            Hi there:
I would prefer Windows XP SP3. It runs faster for lower end processors.
Vista and 7 are supposedly designed for faster processors but it is not that really fast. For most applications, Windows XP runs fine. I remember The way of Windows 98 (the time I first I have my 850MHZ). My system ran faster on 98 than 2000 or ME.
Wonder if I revert to those antique OS in my 2.4 MHz? Just kidding.

Yes it true but just have a good processor and ram. Windows & is really awesome and faster than windows xp. Once you get your hands on 7 you will never change back to XP. The best thing is it does not hang so often as XP. In my case i have been using 7 since last year and it did not show me even "Windows is not responding" message.
