Do you search before starting a discussion?

Mylot tells us to check on discussions before starting one, it's a reminder that somebody might have the same idea we might have. Before I start any discussion, I always check on all the possible tags that I'll be using on my discussion. Then here, I start typing and make a new one. DO you always use the search bar before starting? I think its a very useful idea to use it. It also helps us to know that the idea we have is already posted. When I find that my idea is posted already, I check on it and join the discussion.
This way we will be able to help mylot from spamming problems.

Wow, I did not know this until you brought it up now. Actually, whenever I post a discussion, somewhere on the lower part of the page, I think, there's a portion for 'similar discussions'. And sometimes, I happened to see a question that's almost the same with my question, only phrased differently. Now I know better, I guess you're right. It's like giving common courtesy to others.

Hehe, I helped you in a small way then. I have been thinking about this topic and I searched it before posting, I did not find anything so there I started discussing it. I think that's the main reason why mylot added a search bar for us to check on other discussions.

actually we can have the same discussion with the previous but we do need to adjust them and express it in different way so it will become a new discussion at the end.
the same concept or idea but the way we interpret it is somehow different than the previous starter.
sometimes i can see the same topic in several discussions in a day.
perhaps they getting the idea once they saw the first one-it's like manipulating the question.
yeah sometimes we can get idea from others response, discussion or reply.

making an old discussion more informative. Good, I'll always remember that. In that way we can start a discussions with the others similar what they always wanted.

I have never serched before, but from now on I will serch before starting a new discussion.you are right, mylot is like a family, all of us should make it better and better.

Searching before posting..in that way we are already mylot. Many things that we might not think that are here are already posted. We should always check on them before adding a new discussion. We can also join their conversation if we found out that there's a topic same as what we are thinking.

Information is always around us. It is all up to us on how we get it.
Before I start any discussion here in MyLot, I gather all necessary facts regarding a particular subject that I would like to open up. I could always get them from
news, and even the internet. Sometimes, I get some here in MyLot. Information is the vital key in opening up or participating in any discussion forums.

I admit I don't do that all the time because I only have a limited time using the internet, but as much as possible I do that so that instead of starting a new topic I'll just post a response to other mylotter's topic :)

Ah, alright. But how about looking a discussion that is similar to your idea? I know you don't want a discussion again.

One discussions at a time? Sure is, but what if somebody has the same title in your discussion.?

I do try to make my discussions unique when posting here..and I will check on the discussions that are already available,that hopefully I'm not treading on anyones toes ..what does bug Me is the "Is X a scam?" discussion starter..doesn't that get old real quick?!

Yes before I start ANY discussion I do a thorough search to see if someone has made the same discussion as the one that I was thinking of starting. I check through the tags and then I check through the discussions sometimes different results come up. If no one has started a discussion like mine then I go ahead and create it but if someone already made a discussion like that then I dont make another one as thats against mylot guidelines. Instead I comment on the discussion that someone has already posted.

No, I don't search before I start a discussion in my lot. Basically, I start one because I really want to know opinion from others. That's why I am waiting for the response from other mylotters.

So, you usually ask on your discussion. You start with a question? Why not check the search bar? Somebody might have the same question you have. Just to prevent duplicated discussions.

That is very cautious of you, dear. A responsible Mylotter. :)I should follow your example but I am too lazy to do that.:( After making tags that is the only time i check if my topic has a similar one posted ahead already...
I do not have time researching, I guess, and no much patience, too.Shame on me.:(

I know duplicating a discussion is against mylot rules that's why I'm very cautious on making new discussions. I don't want mylot to delete my discussion. I only check on the tags and the title the title that I will be using. I think you'll find a time to do that too, mylot rewards us when we use the search bar.

I find it is quite useful to do a search before making a discussion of my own. I like to read all the similar discussions so I don't wind up posting the same stuff and then people won't reply to it. I don't really post that many discussions myself either. I find it quite hard to think up a discussion that can get many responses.

Same with me. I search before starting a discussion. I usually start 1-3 discussions a week, you are right, it is hard to handle discussions with many responses.

sometimes I used the search bar before I create a posted specially if I think it is a common questions I have to search it first before I have make a post for it, but sometimes I did not used the search bar for a post I think it not common and it is more personal for me or according to my personal experience.

When it come to personal experiences we don't have to search on that bar but when an idea come to me and its about money I always check on it before starting a new one.

So you don't use the mylot search bar before starting any discussion? Just to see other mylotters discussion you might duplicate a discussion that was posted before.

At least you practice using it for your discussions. But it's still nice and more comfortable if we try to make a research on the topic we are going to post here. We might repeat others topic.

If I am going to do a discussion on a subject in particular yes I will do a search. If it is a discussion about something I am going through that I want to share no I will just make the discussion because it is to get information or opinions to help me.

If it's about our experience I think we don't have to use the search bar of mylot to look for similar discussions.

No I never searched anything before posted any discussion. I always started any discussion when I want. I think sometimes when I don’t get any discussion for giving response then I take help of mylot search bar and I find many new and old discussions for giving response. So I think that is a very good thing for me.

How about using the search bar before posting a discussion. I think that's a good idea to practice too. At least we'll know that we are not repeating a discussion.
