Facebook: Net Working or Not working

I agree that when used appropriately and in moderation - facebook is great for networking. It allows me to keep in touch with a wide variety of friends I might not able to be able to reach out to as easily. I keep touch with friends from grade school, high school and college in addition to friends I have met since. I would not say I use it much for networking in the professional sense of the word. I think there are cases where people use facebook way too much, and that is when it becomes a downfall.

The benefits of using Facebook. After I sign up for an account on Facebookdotcom, suddenly I met my childhood friend, my ex girlfriends, my ex classmate, my neighbor, even i met my enemy at facebook :D For me facebook is not a just social networking website, it became my life in a digital version. Now a day, when people meet each other, they don't ask about phone number any more, they ask : "What is your facebook?" So, for me facebook is working :D

To me, facebook is a no-go. This is quite strange as I usually join nearly every interesting site around the internet. However, there is something about facebook that keeps me staying away from it. Maybe it's just because I need something to really hate. Normally I'm quite "alright" with everything. Facebook can be a good site, but seeing all my real life friends starting to use it more and more really makes me sad. They use so many hours playing farmville and similar games. They can't see how stupid it is. I mean, if they really wanted to play interesting "social networking" games, they should try MMORPG games. The idea of facebook is genius, but the way it's being used, really depresses me. One thing is for sure, I'll never get myself a facebook profile! Also, I don't like how the whole internet starts to focus and build up AROUND facebook. Everything is on facebook nowadays. Even your local supermarkets charity contest. What are your thoughts about how facebook is being used?

For me it's networking in a sense that I can communicate with loved ones from any part of the world. It does help me pass the time with the mini-games online but not so much that I forget everything else. I can do that part in myLot lol.

I have to admit I don't like Facebook, which is weird, because I'm pretty much an addict of networking sites. But Facebook is overcrowded, it's very difficult to find people with similar interests, plus, a lot of people I don't like keep finding me there and adding me as their friend, when I was hoping I got rid of them from my life forever. Have to admit that it's useful to find birthdays for my friends' spouses and children, there are so many now I can't keep track of everybody :)
