Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson are disappointingly lethargic when it comes to applying the latest software to their Phones. They've recently released videos of the X10 running the Eclair version of Android (v2.1). They say that the update will be rolled out pretty soon, but who knows when that soon will arrive. On a side note, they recently released a new phone, the Xperia X8, with Android 1.6, which is close to being obsolete now. I don't understand why they do such things. It seems like the phone might've been in production at a time when Android v1.6 was the latest, however, because of red-tapism, they finally got the clearance to release it *sarcasm*. Anyway, hope you get your update at least by mid-November! :)
