Does anyone owns a Hybrid car? I'm interested to own 1. But needs to listen from someone's experience on it. 1. Does it really save a lot in term of fuel consumption? 2. How's the maintainance cost like? 3. Car performance compare to normal car?

I have a 2009 Prius Toyota, and I love it. It gets 50 miles per gal. and its fun to drive. There in no gearbox, no clutch, and no alternator. Only one speed ahead, and one back. It has lots of power, and will go uphill without slowing down. So far no problems whatsoever! The performance is better than others in its class.

Did the sales person or Toyota Service Centre brief you anythg on the car's battery life span? For eg., replacement is expected after 5 years or so and how's the cost of the replacement?

I don't own a hybrid car but I can answer your questions based on what I have learned about those cars. Regarding your first question, yes it saves fuel but is is high on maintainence as well as initial cost because the clutch gets worn out frequently because the clutch have to shift the transmission from electric to petrol frequently, secondly the battery is also very costly as the battery have to drive the whole car plus it also has to supply power to star the engine.
