I have a roll of wallpaper border that I need to put up on my wall and I really dont know how to do it. Has anyone put any on their walls and can tell me the best way to do it. I was hoping this was the peel and stick kind but it is not. It has a paste on the back that you have to wet. I dont know if you just wet it slightly or if you actually have to soak it in the tub and get it completely soaked. If you have to do that I dont know for how long you have to let it soak either. I am new to home decorating as you can tell.

Shaggin, wet a very small piece and test with your finger and see if it is tacky feeling. Then you will know for sure if it has glue on it. If it does then measure your wall and then unroll the amount you need for a wall then roll it back up loosely and put in down in some warm water. Make sure that you mark your wall or use a laser pointer to show where your paper is going if you need a guide. If it is not sticky paper, then have a tray a little wider than your paper is and put your paste in it. Then you take your border and start with the end that you are starting with on your wall. Glide it through the tray of paste. As you do fold it without creasing it , just loosely fold it over and then take to your wall to apply it. Use something to push the paper down on the wall, a plastic flat piece or a sponge. Making sure you work from the center and work your way to the outer edges. Just try to do it quickly so your glue or paste does not dry. The paste will take longer to dry. It is actually better to use the paste. Good luck. If you have a problem then get me a message in PM and my brother is a wall paper hanger and a painter. I did it too but many years ago, lol. He or I one will try to talk you through it on the phone.

Oh, I forgot...you need to make sure that your wall is clean and free of dirt and grease or anything. Being dry is not an issue if you are using paste.

Wow that is really helpful advice. Thank you so much! I do not think it needs paste as the back feels kind of like an envelope does so I think if I wet it like you said in the tub and put it up it should be ok. I could never wallpaper an entire wall it just seems so difficult. I'm glad its just wallpaper border that I am putting up.

It's really not as hard as it seems to be. It may take a little practice to do a whole room but it's not hard. I hope you get it like you want it. Make sure there are no bubbles and that it all lays flat against the wall.
