Hi neelia, We don't know who invented religion, it probably just grew out of the thoughts of earliest man who believed that some supernatural beings had to be controlling what was happening in the world. Those beings who caused the thunder and lightning, the earthquakes and other great disasters, they felt had great power and they called them Gods. They than tried to find ways of pleasing them and when, for example, if there was a great drought in the land, and they performed a dance and it rained, they believed the dance pleased the Gods. It was based on superstition just as most religion is today. Blessings

Well, at least you hit on one thing that all religionists have in common: the fact that they think they are the only one who is right! lol!
Seriously, religion can be a hassle, people doing things to please their own god. If we are not careful that "god" turns out to be ourselves. but i do believe there is one God period... all the particulars is where we all begin to get conglomerated!

Learning how to understand since we're able to understand kind of pieced things together. "Truth" has always been a personal thing. But the quest for it is global. I think everyone needs that, and attempting to take it away is more cruel in its nature than war.
Unfortunately, belief systems have evolved along with other traits of humanity, and thus many try to force their truth on others. To this end, nobody's right.
I've seen many religious fights on myLot, primarily with people not believing in religion calling those that do stupid or foolish.
There's no difference in that than having the person who believes in God A trying to rule people believing in God B. So you don't even really need what we'd think of as "religion" to fight amongst religions. Not having any religion has become as dogmatic and as kneejerk in some cases as religion, and even a lot of populous causes are indistinguishable from most religions.
To me, that's proof positive that religion is a man-made (or more like an alongside companion of the evolution of thought) concept and that everyone needs to respect another's beliefs and stop fighting over it.
My neighbor doesn't believe in what I believe in - so what!? That's for my neighbor to handle, not me.

I think that we invented religion, because we wanted answers, but we didn't have answers to all the questions. We asked things like, "What are the Sun and the Moon?", so we associated them with gods... as time went on, we got more and more questions... what controls wind, space, time, love, hate, sea, sand... and we kept on making more and more gods... but then... when we learned sooo many things, and only had tiny bits left, we made the one massive God of everything... and thats what we have today... chances are, now we'll go from this to being more agnostic... so what if there is a god or not... we know so much about everything, and we should be the ones working on caring for eachother.

Religion and invention/inventor/invent are the vocabs that can't meet forever, since there is nobody invent religion. So, there is no inventor in religion. For instance, Islam didn't invented by Prophet Muhammad, he only a messenger of God. If we have to answer this question, I say God is the One who invent religion. We believe in Him and all His messengers.
