How would you describe racism?

I think that this world is trending in our days and it is overrated. If somebody acts in a nationalist way then he is categorized as a racist in many occasions, which I think is wrong. It is very natural to have more feelings regarding your own nation, your own race. This doesn't mean that you have problems with other ones, but you love your own better.
So what do you think about this? what are your thoughts, your ideas about this?

I don't like racism at all. Generalization of a certain race just because one person from that race did something wrong is totally unfair. Not all people are born the same way so criticizing everyone and categorizing them in a negative way is inappropriate and tactless.

Of course, criticizing a certain race or nation just because of some of them act antisocial it is considered being racism. But many other things which are not racism is considered to be racism. Like choosing to have relationship only with your nationality( and I mean ethnicity by this) and having close friend from your own nationality. I think it is natural to look after people who have the same language, culture and tradition to be close to you. You can understand them better and they can understand you better than other nationalities, races. This is what I think. Many would call that this a racist thinking, but I think it is very natural to think like this. I have many friends from other races and nationalities, I can have a good time with them, but the closest friends are all from my own nationality. And I intend to have serious relationship only with women from my nationality. And this is not racism at all. It is positive nationalism and caring for the continuity of my own nationality.

I agree that racism has become more a politically charged word and many things which are not really racist are considered to be from political and other reasons. It is natural to look for company from the same nationality( and I mean ethnicity by this) and race because we understand each other better. We speak the same language, we have the same traditions and so on. I have also many buddies from other nationality in my country(like Romanians and Roma people) but the close friends are all Hungarians.

I don't think racism can be completely narrowed down to one definition. But, if I had to, I'd say racism is judging people based on race. Especially judging them in a negative way. But, I'm sure there is more to it. That's just the basic thing that's probably underneath any other form of racism.
I don't think I do love my own race better. I'm not quite sure what that means. Like, if you came upon a group of people of another race, and one of your race, you'd just instinctively love the people of your race better? Maybe some people would, but I wouldn't. It would depend on the individual people. Or does it mean something else? Heck, I don't even have any special feelings for my nation. I don't hate it (America, by the way) and I understand that there's a lot good about it. But, I'm devoid of any intense patriotism. Maybe I'm abnormal. The only people I know I love better than others are my family.

I describe racist as disrespecting someone based on what race they are or the color of their skin.
