I am a die-hard fan of soccer. But my sister don't like this game. Every time I am watching a soccer game she would switch the tv channel. According to her, it is not a sophisticated game, it is barbaric. How many of you think that soccer is barbaric?

Nope, I don't think so at all! There are way more barbaric sports out there, such as boxing, and even hockey! So I really do not agree with that statement!

I am thinking that soccer is just normal sport with ball. I don`t think its barbaric, why should it be? The fact is that some soccer fans sometimes act like barbarians and dummies by my opinion, but its nothing wrong with sport. I actually prefer ice hockey and basketball but I like to watch sometimes some soccer matches also, especially world and european championchips.

Barbaric?! Not at all! Has she ever seen American Football? Soccer is a beautiful game . It has it's own beauty. I feel sorry for her, She is blind as a bat. Forgive me I know she is your sister but she sooo wrong. ps. Just politely switch back to the match and tell her the game is on! How disrespectful can you get!

That's not true in the slightest. Rugby is very dangerous, so is American football and although I think AF is softer just look at the guy who got hurt the other day. It made national news in united kingdom for even sake! The worst part about football is the violence that comes with certain sets of fans. It's a shame we tend not to be able to get on with our arch rivals, unlike in Australia where everybody gets along and there is no separation between the two sets of fans. Everybody enjoys the banter :)

You should make your sister sit beside you and show her a game of rugby. After watching it, she will change her mind about soccer being barbaric.

For me it is the best game which I have ever saw. It is not a barbaric game in essence, only there are a few brutal players like Materazzi who are barbaric. But otherwise is a nice game, which involves physical contact, but the majority of them are clean. Of course, players suffer injuries all the time, but mostly because of the fatigue and not because of the tackles. But the worst injuries are those which are a result of sliding tackles with raised legs, those can end a players career. But in the essence it is not a barbaric game, it only involves many emotions and lots of physical contact. But this makes a game thrilling and beautiful.

I don't think that it is barbaric at all. Obviously the people on mylot have never been to a Hockey game. Now that is barbaric. Hockey is way more violent than any other sport out there, it can even be more violent than American Football. If any of you can, go to a real hockey game and see what I mean.
