With the advent of internet people are stopping to use the libraries because is easier to find information on the web rather than in a library. Do you think that in the future the libraries will cease to exist?

mario02, I do not think libraries will be defunct with the emergence of internet, instead over the years I am sure you would have noticed that libraries are also going online where computers are being made available for members to access. Also, with the emergence of digital books I think libraries can even conduct online access for their members without having to frown with inventory problems for popular titles and/or reference materials. I feel that libraries will be more versatile with the accessibility and much more readily available materials for the masses in the future. We might even have a universal library where one membership could allow us to access materials from other parts of the world. Cheers!

I certainly hope not. Personally, I still prefer going to the library to do some research because I feel it would be more accurate. I still do not trust everything on the internet, so even if I found preliminary information there, I still use books to verify the information.

I agree with you. Some informations on internet aren't accurate, so I prefer seek confirmation in the books!

No, I think libraries will always have some usefulness. There's nothing like holding an actual book in your hand.

The internet is not killing the library at all. I volunteer at my local library and there are lots of people who come in and check out things like books and movies. I always see students coming in to get books for school assignments and I think people will always need the library for something.

I don't think so. As far as the libraries are concerned, they still have more books and informative stuff that the internet has not yet gathered or compiled. For example those old obsolete reference materials that a student may need for a history project, the library has a 70-80% chance of having it than the internet. I don't think the libraries will cease to exist. I think that the library will adapt to the changes and will use the internet as a medium of upgrading its system to save and compile and store reference materials and informative stuff for the students and the people who love to use the library.

No, I don't think so.To make any e-book you need an original and some originals are inaccessible. You can get them only in the library.Especially old and rare books.Scientific literature requires long and accurate reading, try reading 300 pages online, and 300 pages in printed format. The difference is huge.We need libraries even in this modern age.

Libraries will not be displaced by the Internet. Library has its own advantages, the Internet also has its own advantages.

I don’t think so because I think now there are many persons who always like to go to library because they know the value of library. And I am also thinking mostly time library helps us a lot for make notes about any subjects. It is true that time every person like to Internet because internet has changed our life but I also think library also important in people’s life.

I think number of people reading books are reduced now a days due to the influence of other medias. Internet surely reduced the number of people reading the books. The reading habit of children decreased much. I think one couldn't avoid reading. Reading a book in the library is more interesting according to me than reading it in the net. Also it is good for eyes.

Seriously, yes! Searching for information is much faster and convenient on web. One link lead to another. Matching those keywords and found the information accurately matched our queries. Browsing books is just a waste of time. However, not all information published on website are accurate, but we can filter it by reading only those from reliable source. With the existence of eBook, its even better. We dont need any heavy and not very user friendly physical books anymore. Awaiting for someone to create eLibrary, digitize all books available and open it to public.

i don't think so because internet not provide all information we need, if we can't select the trusted source we can only find wrong information because so many information are available and that different if we look for our needed information using conventional library because we can easily select from the authors i think the better choice is we must combine our information using library and what we get from our searching online
