My husband and I were watching this anime and it is so funny. It teaches you to be nice and good. To be friendly and keep your promise. And being yourself. This anime is about a girl who met 3 guys who have a family curse. Whenever they are hugged by opposite gender they turn into an animal in the Chinese Zodiac. DO you know this anime? Have you watched it too?
I learned this anime form my niece and at first I thought what kind of anime is this? Though the title is not catchy as soon as you watched the first episode you will be hooked by it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this anime. If you have time, you can also try to read the manga (Japanese comics). It is more complete and you can read the real ending there.

I also like this anime but I didn't have my copy of it so I haven't watched it yet. I'm planning to download this soon but I got curious with your response. Are you saying the ending in anime isn't really complete? Because if it is, I would probably download the manga rather than the anime instead. What do you think? -)

I also love Fruits Basket. Usually my siblings and I have different tastes in anime but when it comes to this series we all agree that it's great. I actually own the entire series and I bought it when it first came out here in the US. The DVDs were $40 each but I thought that they were well worth the price since the story was so great. This is also one of the few series that had a great English dubbing cast. I prefer to watch my anime in Japanese with English subtitles but this one is an exception.
I was a bit confused by the title at first too but after watching the series it made more sense. It was kind of sad when they were talking about Tohru being a rice ball while all the other kids were various kinds of fruits. All I can say is that this is a perfect series if you're looking for some drama and comedy. I do wish that they would make a second season for the series since the manga for it is complete now.

Yeah, I think it would cost quite a bit for the manga series since there are so many volumes. But you might find them cheap on Amazon though. As for the second part, there hasn't been any words and it has been many years now. It seems unlikely but maybe if enough fans petition for it or something they might come out with one. Don't feel too bad, I remember crying too when Kyo turned into that creature. That just goes to show how great a show it is if it can get those types of reaction from the viewers.

I want to buy the manga too, but I think it is expensive. :). So there is no 2nd part? I think it only have 26 episodes?
My husband was teasing me when we watch that part, when Tohru was relaying the fruit basket game. My eyes were teary, and he teased me of crying. I was not, but that part was very touching. I hate that kid that tell her she is a rice ball

Its been a while since i have watched it but I did enjoy it. All of the characters had their witty little odd things about them that made their personalities unique.
It was a good drama anime but not to sappy that it made you gag it was actually pretty cute.
Btw angelic you could probably go to ebay or your local library to get fruit baskets i remember my library having it for a brief amount of time.

if you have time.. you can read the manga of this anime in anime-eden.com i download it so that if i'll have enough money.. i can print it and make a book bind of it...
the part were Tohru's friend visited in Sohma's house was really funny.. it didn't happen in the manga yet the difference of anime and manga was so cool...
but everytime i watch or read the manga about how's momiji's situation in his family.. i can't help myself but to cry.. i think.. it was the most touching part of the story..
we all both know that momiji is a very hyper active child.. a positive thinker as we can see.. even Tohru didn't notice that he was burden by his own curse...
i really felt sorry for momiji.. he was the one who have a bigger sacrifice about family relationship..
i think so..

Don't you think Akito is crazy? He is weird, is he also an animal from the zodiac?

I love this anime! I've watched it 'til the end, and I find it so sweet. There is a generally melancholic theme throughout, because the Soma family feel the brunt of the curse, but the girl, Honda Tohru gives out so much hope and sunshine that she is able to overcome her demons, and help the members of the Soma family deal with theirs. Plus, the soundtrack is really touching (I watched it in the original Japanese language - with subtitle, of course, as I'm not very proficient in the language!)

I had the pleasure of watching this anime. Though it has its light side, the story has also has dark undertones. The dynamics of The Sohma cousins are fun to watch as well as their interaction with Tohru and her friends. I reccomend that you read the manga too for more twists and turns!
