What’s with streakers?

Streaking in front of large crowds - Would you go streaking?

I was listening to a football game on the radio the other day when I heard the announcers started laughing because a streaker has just run out on the field. Never mind that there were a lot of people on the stands, or that there were a lot of security people on the field, but it was really cold out there! It was funny because that morning, I was just reading about the famous 1974 Oscar’s where an art gallery owner flashed a peace sign and his ‘shortcomings’ with billions of people watching on TV worldwide. Now my question is, what goes into the thought process of a streaker? I’m sure there is alcohol involved, and maybe some wagering, but what else? Or is it just it? Really no thought process going on, just strip and go! Would you go streaking? What would it take for you to strip and run in front of large crowds?

LOL that is so funny. Really some people will do anything for attention. Not only will the streaker get arrested but everyone will see how small they are ;-) I can just imagine they must be high on something to do that. If someone dared me to streak and there was no possibilty of getting in trouble and NO one would see me on camera like say just at a party or something then I would do it but yeah not in front of millions of people on air.

But I guess for some that's the thrill of it! Knowing that millions of people will see and remember it. However short the episode iwill be, or however short that member is! So, tell me which party you're going, so I could start the chant. Go shaggin go! Haha! Thanks.

I have nothing against streakers, but I don't think I can do this even if you'll pay me. LOL. A friend of mine used to run during the "Oblation Run" held at our university in college. The only thing that can make him run is the fact that his face is covered; only his eyes are seen by the crowd. But I guess it's a sign of liberation and a good story to tell your children/grandchildren someday.ü

I don't know what encourages them or inspires them to do such acts...but there is not surely only one reason common for all...some may want publicity, some may be strong believer and doing it for some cause ....some do it just to attract others..but for any reason i think there are other ways to do what u want to achieve...i can never even think of any sensible human being doing such act

i can never even think of any sensible human being doing such act I would think the same, but it still doesn't explain why you see them running around during sporting events. I know it's funny for all the people watching, but I just don't understand them. Thanks!

David Niven was the one who came up with the shortcomings comment. Yep, streakers were quite popular that year. It was my senior year in high school, and we had a few streakers, at my graduation, and during PE. Fun times...

Sounds about right! Something the Pink Panther would say. I wish I was at your school back then. I bet it was really fun having the streakers during PE or even at graduation. I could even be one of the streakers myself!

I have never understoood why people want to streak at sporting events. i don;t see what they think they are gaining from such an experience. Perhaps they are just doing it for a few moments of attention in the spotlight.

Haha! Yes, they wan't the attention! The one thing I don't understand is that if they want to draw attention on their 'parts', why do it when it's cold. When there is some shrinkage involved. It is puzzling!

I think mostly youngsters do it because something motivates them. Only motivation I can think of is that either someone challenges them to do so or they have a bet with friends.
