Helping family or friends with a ride to or from work

Do you help family a lot? For example, my girlfriend of 6 years has a sister. Her car broke down and her partner is using her other car to go back and forth from work but has asked me to pick her up from work. This is the 4th day I am doing it and all Ive gotten is toll change. What about gas? Should I ask for it? And if I do ask, what is a decent amount to ask for? I mean, I don't mind helping out, but some days its just too much on my car.
