Need to call someone in Australia

Does anyone here call Australia from US or Canada? My friend is going to Australia and her boyfriend from US wants to know what is the cheapest and best option to call a landline in Australia. These folks are close friends of mine so I told them I will search the net for answers. BTW, I'm using Onesuite and I just checked their rates to Australia and its 1.8c per minute to Sydney. I know it's cheap already but who knows, there might be a cheaper service out there.

I think the easiest way may be calling by Skype. The PC-PC call is free of charge. If you want to make a PC-phone call, the price is also very cheap. So whenever I want to make an international call, I always use this software. I love China
