In our place where brownouts are often, and sometimes unannounced or unexpected, UPS helps. Last year, at our office, my computer was the only one with UPS. During a typhoon, the lights suddenly went off, and I could hear others shrieking. "OMG! I have not saved my task!" Now, our boss ordered UPS for everyone, because not everyone can learn to 'save it'.

Sometimes files may get deleted. When you have some job which is to be saved, you may not get the opportunity,to do so.UPS gives one some valuable time, say 15 minutes or so to do these and prevents file deletions,as one can shutdown the machine normally.

UPS means Uninterruptible Power Supply. The devise is like an AVR which helps and used to supply power in case electricity fails. Naturally, this is used for computer desktops which has no battery unlike the laptop. When electricity is down, the UPS provides and supplies power in order to save the current tasks you are doing on your computer. Hence, giving you the leeway or time to save your current files and be able to shut down the computer properly. Hence, UPS as source of power, you may likewise charge your cellphones, ipod, etc when they are out or battery low.

most important is it saves your work during sudden power outage. it's also beneficial when you are offline. but if you are online and your work is on the net, suddenly power outage happens, you may not be able to continue your work online. specially if your router needs electricity to work. nevertheless, better yet, connect your router to your UPS as well. take care.

Hi there! When my family first bought a desktop, my brother told me that we also need a UPS which in my opinion was an added expense to the already expensive p.c unit. However, I was able to see the logic behind why UPS is a "must" when you have a p.c. For one, it protects your p.c from a fluctuating power supply. It works just like a battery once plug into a computer. Two, it allows you to properly shut down your p.c once your done and save important data. More importantly, UPS is mandatory for any p.c users because it prolongs the life span of your p.c. Hence, investing in this one is a wise move! Good luck and I hope this help.

apc ups - Uninterrupted Power Supply
UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supply is power storage device..It stores your energy in a battery so when power failure or shortage you don't be worrying about your appliances or any electronics devices such as computers to turn off without you being able to save your data or files you been working with for an hour.. Normal small size UPS would last for five to ten minutes: For more info visit this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply
