How can a UPS help in our computers?

In our place where brownouts are often, and sometimes unannounced or unexpected, UPS helps. Last year, at our office, my computer was the only one with UPS. During a typhoon, the lights suddenly went off, and I could hear others shrieking. "OMG! I have not saved my task!" Now, our boss ordered UPS for everyone, because not everyone can learn to 'save it'.

Hi there! When my family first bought a desktop, my brother told me that we also need a UPS which in my opinion was an added expense to the already expensive p.c unit. However, I was able to see the logic behind why UPS is a "must" when you have a p.c. For one, it protects your p.c from a fluctuating power supply. It works just like a battery once plug into a computer. Two, it allows you to properly shut down your p.c once your done and save important data.
